Aperion Audio Powered Towers Review

We seem to be living in an era dominated by internet shopping and “Buy-Direct-Now for the absolute best savings" mentality. Aperion Audio surprised us with its level of customer service and attention to detail, but we were even more suprised when we heard the level of quality that came out of what we would consider a budget-priced floorstanding loudspeaker system. Read the Aperion Powered Towers review to see how this system performed in our critical listening tests.

I agree!

These speakers are wonderful. I've had mine for a few months now, and given them quite a workout. Flat out solid performers. Besides sounding great their "fit and finish" is excellent. I always get positive comments from visitors when they see (and hear) them. Thanks for a great review.

I read your review on the towers and was impressed with their product. I am trying to decide on the Aperion Power Tower 5.1 system (2-522D-PT, 2-522D-LR and 1-522-C speakers) w/10" sub or Axiom Epic 50 or Monitor Audio Silver series (S1, S6 and SLCR).
I was able to listen to the Monitors and was impressed with them but at the same time I've read some great reviews on the Aperion and Axiom speakers.
I am using a Yamaha RXV2400 receiver with the system.
Any thoughts and/or suggestions would be welcomed.......

I reviewed the original Monitor Audio Silver series a few years ago and found them to be a bit lacking. When I pulled them apart, I found an economical OEM tweeter, no bracing and low grade electrolytic crossovers. It was then I realized the sum of the parts was responsible for the boxy, thin compressed sound I was hearing. I cannot directly comment on the new Silver Si series, but after my review, Monitor Audio assured me that they upgraded their crossovers with better parts and have since then made other upgrades to their Silver Series line. However, I have reviewed their Gold series but much enthusiasm, but they are significantly higher in price.

Between the Axiom and Aperion, it depends on what you are after. I personally feel the Axiom has the edge for midrance clarity and focus, but can be a bit hot on top, while the Aperions have a more pronounced bass section, laid back sound. Both are good values. The other positive with the Aperions is their beautiful cabinetry and finish yielding a high Wife Acceptance Factor (WAF).
