another noob question setting up stereo speakers to pc

how do you set up a stereo receiver and speakers to a computer. I have an HP with vista operating system and I only have the green out,mic and some blue port.

You need a stereo mini jack to RCA cable. Plug the mini jack to the green port and the RCA plugs into a line level input on your receiver.

TLS is right.. mini to rca cable, but the real question is why are you connecting your PC to your receiver? Depending on the application a new soundcard may be in order.

The mini to rca cable is not as good as a sound card. You'll have to crank up the volume on your computer to get enough volume output to your speakers. However going with the sound card that has rca line output will give you cleaner signal.
