A very simple way on how to correct Y cable twists on Grado/Alessandro Headphones

1) Lay the headphones on a flat surface - left to right (headband to the left) and position the pads so they face flat on the surface. Extend the headphone cable completely to the right so there are no kinks, knots etc.

2) Place your left hand on the headband, right hand a bit above the Y portion so you are holding onto the single portion of the cable.

3) Lift the headphones up and gently position the headphones so they are vertically upside down (headband facing the ground hanging by the cord). Make sure to keep your left hand underneath the headband at all times so gravity is not acting on the weight of headphones and stressing the connections.

4) Slowly release your left hand off the headband but not completetly releasing all pressure. The headphones will start rotating and the cable with start naturally correcting itself - you can even help it a bit on its way with the left hand.

5) Place them back down carefully. At this point you might need to make a half rotation or so on the pads to fully correct the twists.

6) If you did it correctly the Y cable should lay flat on your chest when you are wearing the headphones. The cables should not cross and there should be no twists at the joints of the Y portion of the cable.
