2 Receivers?

Can I plug in 2 Receivers to my HD TV for Surround Sound & 2 Subwoofers or would it Hurt the TV?
One Receiver would be running 2 Surround Speakers, 1 Center Channel & 1 Big Subwoofer.
The other Reveiver would be running the 2 Regular Speakers & A small Subwoofer.
Is it possible?

Think about where the sound is actually coming from- it's usually not the TV. You can connect them but it will be hard to balance the sound easily.
