    1. How do you buy your high-end audio products today? Why?

    Online
    Specialty Retail Store
    Custom Installer

Specialty store. I like to see/hear products before buying

    2. What three consumer electronics products in the market today are you most excited about and why?

    * LCD/LED Tvs, lighter weight and brighter
    * Boxee, a streaming solution that passes the "random stranger can use it without an hour of instruction" test
    * better iphone-as-a-remote-control - most remotes, even logitec programmables kinda suck

    3. What is your most treasured audio component?
NAD 743 receiver, everything has to go through it

    4. What areas of the consumer electronics industry (specifically audio/video) do you feel are untapped and offer the most potential from new technology?
Control (see iPhone comment). We've got power for audio and bandwidth for video, but controlling all of it is still more annoying then it should be

    Questions

    1. How do you buy your high-end audio products today? Why?
    1. Online
    2. Specialty Retail Store
    3. Custom Installer

Online primarily but will buy locally if prices are comparable. Once bought a flatscreen from Dell online and received it cracked. Hence some items are too cumbersome to buy online.

    2. What three consumer electronics products in the market today are you most excited about and why?

    a. Android based tablets as Apple and Microsoft has no room in our house
    b. Built in (wall) speakers as I want better sound but the other half wants fewer wires and hidden speakers.
    C. Computer based media servers for the whole house with easy distribution.

    3. What is your most treasured audio component?

    Very easy: Denon AVR2807

    4. What areas of the consumer electronics industry (specifically audio/video) do you feel are untapped and offer the most potential from new technology?

Cloud based streaming of media content. Imagine XM meet Pandora but for all media, anywhere.

Default Me!!!! ME!!! oh... not me...

How do you buy your high-end audio products today? Why?
Online - DEFINITELY - lowest cost option out there
    Specialty Retail Store
    Custom Installer

I have few dollars to spend, so making sure that I can get high quality stuff inexpensively is my plan. I would like to use a retailer/installer, but I just can't afford it. Most online stores allow you to test the equipment out at home anyway!

    2. What three consumer electronics products in the market today are you most excited about and why?

SSD drives. Quiet HTPC! Finally, having a small box to play my movies and music with out having to turn the vol up to cover up the fan noise.

Android phone/tablets - good very flexible plateforms for storing movies, books, games, songs. Why isn't there a plug in, like the apple ipod docs yet?

Automatic room balancing. I don't know how to effectively set up speakers? The more the software can do to ease me through it the better.

    3. What is your most treasured audio component?

My most treasured audio component has to be the hard-drive in my HTPC where all the music is... (please don't crash...please don't crash!!!)

    4. What areas of the consumer electronics industry (specifically audio/video) do you feel are untapped and offer the most potential from new technology?

The most untapped area is the GUI for the recievers. Seriously, TV sets GUIs and Reciever GUIs are typically so non-user friendly that most people are still watching their TV in torch mode. If there was a GUI that could handle all the settings with a simple handshake you would see many more consumers buying HT systems, rather than doing without. Why should programing a 3rd party remote take forever? Why is a 3rd party remote even necessary? I've got boxes and manuals coming out of my ears because no one in the industry talks to each other about setting up a datalink and a industry standard GUI.
Look at computers. When you log into the motherboard setup, you can set up CPU frequencies, unlock multipliers, basically change settings for almost every hardware item in the computer regardless of who manufactured it.

    Questions

    1. How do you buy your high-end audio products today? Why?

Online - for generic items like cables because pricing can be significantly better than many big box retailers
Specialty Retail Store - for items like BNC cables and processors/scalers where I am looking for knowledge and experience related to bigger ticket purchases, nothing beats non-big-box brick and mortar based experts.
Custom Installer - sometimes, you just can't find an item anywhere else and CI specialists also get my business.

    2. What three consumer electronics products in the market today are you most excited about and why?
    1) video projectors 2) "internet radio tuners" 3) the much maligned RIM Playbook

    3. What is your most treasured audio component?
Tie between my Zoom H2 digital recorder and vintage Crown CX-822 reel to reel with DBX type I NR.

    4. What areas of the consumer electronics industry (specifically audio/video) do you feel are untapped and offer the most potential from new technology?

Personal video via cloud that's easy to use and convenient for large format presentation. Lawrence of Arabia on an iPad just can't draw you in like a big screen and good sound at home.

    1. How do you buy your high-end audio products today? Why?
Online - Because I live in the middle of nowhere. If I drive an hour I'd hit a best buy, and if they had something I wanted, I could find it for cheaper online.
Specialty Retail Store - No such thing exists in my area. If they did, I'd go there to dream and audition things outside my price range.
Custom Installer - I have gone to my local custom installer for RCA-BNC adapters. If I didn't need them that day, I'd have ordered online.

    2. What three consumer electronics products in the market today are you most excited about and why?
    1. I'm excited about 4K displays and content. I've survived with 720P long enough that maybe I can just skip over 1080P.
    2. I'm excited about 18"+ high excursion, low distortion subwoofer drivers.
    3. Hard drive/cloud-based/DLNA access to content in general. I love that I can access 90% of my audio/video content from non-disc sources.

    3. What is your most treasured audio component?
My front left and right mains. I built them myself and couldn't replace them as I could most anything else in my system.

    4. What areas of the consumer electronics industry (specifically audio/video) do you feel are untapped and offer the most potential from new technology?
Streaming high resolution audio. Even just streaming 16/44.1. If the bandwidth is available to stream 1080p +5.1 over the internet, then there's no reason I shouldn't have a few accessible options for streaming CD quality (or better) audio.

    Questions

    1. How do you buy your high-end audio products today? Why?

    Online; why?
Because can shop a pricematch and no hassle to drive out and waste fuel

    2. What three consumer electronics products in the market today are you most excited about and why?

*Projectors. They just get better and better and 3d is now available*.

*Home Automation . Too sweet!! I can turn on or off my ac from my cell phone when at work. I can control my surveillance / security system and open my door to my kids when they are at the door while I am at work. Other cool thing is I can turn on and off the power socket outlets from my cell, forget the kill-a-watt!

*Subwoofers. They just keep getting more and more interesting and performance they offer are getting better. How amazing when someone says sealed is better then ported if you listen to music more than movies and ported is better if watching movies than music? Oh really?? lols!!!

    3. What is your most treasured audio component?

My Pioneer Elite receiver, because w/o it I can't listen to my speakers & sub for movies, music and games.

    4. What areas of the consumer electronics industry (specifically audio/video) do you feel are untapped and offer the most potential from new technology?

HDMI cable, what version is it at now?

    1. How do you buy your high-end audio products today? Why?
-I prefer to buy in a local store to support the local economy. But only if the prices are comparible. 1-2% mark up over online is acceptable.

    2. What three consumer electronics products in the market today are you most excited about and why?
-LED Projectors - 50k hours without changing a bulb! wow!
-Whole home automation. Smart homes are the way to go. Control everything in your house from anywhere. ie: HVAC from your droid or iDevice.
-4k TV's and Projectors. A few are out, I wish more were. I love the quality...

    3. What is your most treasured audio component?
-JBL Pro SP222. 1600W, 135db, of crystal clear audio from .5 miles away. Oh yeah, it's 1/2 the size of my refridgerator, and ugly, so it has been banished to the garage.
    Damn women. (WAF sucks)

    4. What areas of the consumer electronics industry (specifically audio/video) do you feel are untapped and offer the most potential from new technology?

-High Def movies available, day 1 of the theater release, at an affordable price. The movie industry does not seem to get it. The majority of the Movie theaters out there suck. More and more Home theaters are being created every day that rival them. Being able to pause the movie, and go to the bathroom, get a snack, put the kids to bed, etc.

-Audio. I've played musical instruments from 1st grade, through college. How come I can't close my eyes, and hear/feel the band in front of me. Without spending tens of thousands of dollars? I have gone to many homes, and specialty shops that claim to. They are close, but I still hear the speakers

    Wooo is me.

Hopefully a high end set of RBH will solve my wooo, and bring me into nirvana.

    2. What three consumer electronics products in the market today are you most excited about and why?
Streaming media boxes, because of abundant content.

Subs, with room correction, because room correction provides smoother bass.

DAC. A DAC can improve the sound of media being streamed via online sources.

    3. What is your most treasured audio component?
    Emotiva XPA-5 AMP.

    4. What areas of the consumer electronics industry (specifically audio/video) do you feel are untapped and offer the most potential from new technology?

Easy to configure media servers. DVDs and CDs will be discontinued then where do we keep all soft media content?
