    Arrow Elemental Designs A7-900 Subwoofer

We don't often get first looks as early as we have for the Elemental Designs A7-900 subwoofer. They don't even have a production model yet! The pictures we've seen are of a constructed but unfinished cabinet. But what construction! Two inch thick in most places, bracing everywhere, and dual 18" drivers... it boggles the mind. The footprint might be only 26" by 27.25" but it stands 49.5" high! Powered by B&O ICEPower... this thing is going to shake your house! Now call some friends because you're going to need help moving this ~400lbs monster.

Any wonder why the rest of the world considers us to be the epitome of "wretched excess"?

    I'll take two also.

They have a video of one of those things being built on their web site. Maybe it's the predecessor, but they show it going through their CNC system and a guy using boatloads of glue to fasten it up, clamp it down.... The thing's ginormous (that's a technical term, but feel free to look it up if you need to).

But you guys are right. You should get two. You know, dealing with room modes and all. You could also mount a row of theater seats on it and have a combination Butt-Kicker / subwoofer.

Too bad the thing's so danged ugly. I hope the production models have a little bit more grace in the enclosure's final design.

At the risk of going off-topic a bit I think my next "DIY" project will involve ED building me a box for my sub(s). There prices are pretty reasonable for a custom enclosure. I think a couple Mal-X in a similar box to the A7-900 would be insane.
