JVC PD-42WX84 Warranty Blues
I purchased this plasma display at them end of November 2003. This being a consumer vs commercial display, it states that repair service is available from their authorized service providers on an "in home" basis. The unit stopped working at the first of this month and I called JVC for repair service. From them I received a list of authorized repair centers. Neither of the two places near my area would travel to my location for warranty service. I called JVC back and was told that even though my manuals' warranty stated repairs would be made on an in home basis that it meant only if it was available......it doesn't state that, but that's what they "meant". To receive warranty repairs I would have to take the unit to their service provider.
So, if anyone is considering purchasing a JVC display, and is expecting in home service should it malfunction, I suggest you contact their service providers and question if they will come to your home if needed.....FIRST.
