Sounds Good

It sounds good for being in an apartment...considering that it has one wall of slider glass doors, a hallway on one side, kitchen on the back, and open to the dinning room. It would sound a lot better if I got a new amp...the kenwood has 5.1 but adds that crappy fake reverb....that is why I run it in stereo for the time being.

Great system especially for the price. Frome one Vandersteen lover to another: I don't know the full layout of your room and I'm sure you are tight for space in an apartment, but Vandersteen benefit tremendously from having open space between them. This I think is what creates the magnificent sounstage they make. Could you pull your mains forward a foot or two and does that help?

I have found that I do not use the center speaker much especially for concert DVDs and listen in 4 channel surround. Vandersteens image so well that the sound still seems to emanate from the TV and I get a better 3D image. This is true as long as I sit in the sweet spot. Try it both ways and let me know what you think.

I got the Vandersteens from my uncle...his wife wanted him to get rid of them and they were in his basement...so he offerd them to me.

As far as moving them into the room more...on go it is a real small room. They still sound good, but I'm sure they would sound better in bigger room, with proper placement.

awesome system

great system JohnA,

theres only one thing i would change, and its the mtx subwoofer. i know the 40 hz range sounds real nice, but they are one of the worst brands of loud speakers. they have terrible FR, they are slow, and they are boomy.

sorry for the rude comments but thats the way i feel about mtx.
other then that, that is a great looking system.

Hey...just to let you know the sub is a Car Audio sub from my old car....And they don't sound boomy, they are very tight for what they are :D
