Default Denon 3805 vs. Rotel RSX 1056/ 1067

Can anyone help me clarify this: Denon AVR 3805 vs. Rotel 1056 or 1067. I know the 1067 is more compatible to the Denon, due to 7.1, more power (100wpc), however I know that Rotel's 75 watts on the 1056 are pretty much "true" 75 watts and it is fairly efficient. But, can anyone recommend one brand over the other? Is Denon's 120 wpc really that when driving a 5.1 system? Clint, maybe you can hep with this one since you reviewed the 3805 for us "Audioholics!!"

Thanks - Joe

Default Rotel 1056 verses Marantz 5500 or Denon 3800

I too would like to know how these units compare. Particularly after getting ride of definitive technology speakers (bi-polar) for B&Ws where the sound is kind of glaring. The acustics need to be changed in the room, but also which of these receivers is, "warmer". Rotel, Denon or Marantz? Sorry to get off course, but perhaps this could yield some valuable response.

You cannot compare the two based on specs only.. they both have different sound characteristics... you should go in and listen to em and decide.

Depending on what you are looking for from your reciever there is nad... arcam... etc etc...

Output into 5 channels simultaneously on the 3805 is between 77 and 95 watts, depending on which bench test you trust. The 120 watt per channel rating is correct, but for one or two channels only.

IMO, the Marantz has the least sibilance set to flat. The issue I have with Marantz is some of their entry to mid level units do not have a built in eq, so balancing out the room is a bit harder if you like to tweak the sound.

Rotel is known for a very crisp, clear sound. A lot depends on your room and speakers. Denon falls somewhere in between, but with a lot of flexibility to enhance or tone down the highs, as well as muddy bass.
