I think there are better players out there than the Sony.

How about the Teac Esoteric SACD player for a start. This $4,500.00 player is considerably better than the Sony SCD-XA777ES, both in terms of build quality and sound reproduction.

O'Shag
I have not heard the Teac, but it is hard to imagine that it could be 'considerably" better than the Sony, especially the version with balanced outs. Why, even the Lexicon RT-10 is as highly regarded as the Teac in some circles. I am unconvinced that people can reliably hear differences between these players with such outstanding build quality, all else being equal.

BTW, don't quote me, but I think the Sony weighs more than these 2 players. That counts for a lot. I do not like Sony audio, however they know how to make good CD players.
