Happy New Year folks.

I read somewhere that the Denon 3802 and the 1082 are the same thing. Is this true? If not what are the differences? Its my understanding that the 1082 is about $200-300 cheaper, which doesn't make any sense.

Thanks <img src="images/smilies/cool.gif" border="0" alt="" title="cool" class="inlineimg" />

The Denon AVR-3802 and the AVR-1082 are indeed the exact same model.  They are both available online in the $650-$700 range and at local dealers for about $800.  They are  the predecessor to the AVR-3803,  (don't get the numbers confused).  The 3803 is going online for about $850 and at dealers for $1000-$1100.

I have downloaded the owners manuals for all three at www.usa.denon.com.  The new 3803 is listed on the manual as the 3803/1083.  This is a marketing thing Denon does at the end of the model year.  The 3802 and the 1082 have different manuals but are identical.

I've tried finding the 3082 for the $650 amount and have come up with nothing other than $800 or more. Can anyone recommend a site that sells either one for the $650 amount?

The Denon AVR-1082 is $645 at Etronics.com (I have bought several times from them and have had good luck...Etronics also sells the 3803 for $840).  Also, the 1082 is $680 at Shopsunshine.com.  Or, check Bizrate.com, Dealtime.com and Shopper.cnet.com for comparative prices.  Or, put the exact model number ie: Denon AVR-1082 in your search engine and you will find lots of info.

You will probably find that the 3802 is more at most places, as much as $200 more.  But I saw it for about $690, can't remember which website.  The models numbers such as 1082 and 1083 come out near the end of the model year.  I have looked at them both at a local dealer (Good Guys) and they are exact except for the model number.
