Default Motorola DCT6412 (Dual-Tuner) Set Top Box...

My old STB from Comcast died a couple of weeks ago so I upgraded to the DCT6412 (Dual-Tuner) DVR STB and I can't help but notice just how loud the thing is. It's a 'humming type' noise coming right from the unit whether it's powered on or off, I had to unplug it a day or so ago whenever I was listening to some reduced level music.

Does this sound like a grounding issue? It's the only component out of my system that makes this sort of noise and the old STB was completely quiet.

Might be a bad fan, noisy transformer, noisy hard drive. Take it back for a replacement.

I have had a 6412 for about a year. It's working perfectly. It is a bit noisy, loud HD.

It runs very hot also 130 degrees F IR temp sensor at the vents. I had it in a cabinet and thought I was smothering it. Moved it out on a hard flat surface open all around. Still runs in the 130's. I guess thats off topic. Any other 6412 run hot?
