Default Mitsubishi HD1080 Series Woes

hey all!

When trying to set up the inputs on my Mitsubishi 1080 Series bigscreen, Im only given 480p and 960i as options. What the deuce? Bloody thing is called "1080 Series".. which, unless its a brilliant (and entirely evil) marketing scheme, tells me that 1080 should be an option. 960 is close, but Xbox 360 doesnt support it.. I need 1080. How do I set it up so that its displaying 1080 resolution? Thanks in advance for any help!

If it is like my Samsung, 1080 refers to the standard native resolution of the TV. The pixel array is 1920X1080p using wobulation. So, any incoming signal will naturally get upconverted to 1080p.

That means the only issue is what is your incoming signal.
I assume you are connected via the HD component cables cables?

1080i is the desired input (for me) from the 360. Your TV should not need any extra configuration to move the signal to 1080p. That should happen automatically.

Default Thanks!

I am connecting the xbox via the HD/standard AV cables that came with the Xbox 360. Theres a switch on the side that lets me switch from HD to standard TV. Do I need to actually buy the HD ONLY cables to get up to 1080?

The problem occurs when trying to change the Xbox settings themselves. Everything higher than 480p makes the screen go black or blue for the 10 test seconds, then automatically reverts back to 480.

Thanks for the reply!

Thumbs up i figured it out

i had the same problem. i notice you posted this a long time ago, so you've probably figured it out but... on particular older models of the mitsubishi HD1080 only the DTV component cable inputs on the back of the TV will process 1080i signals. I just plugged into the DTV input and it worked! Hope this helps!
