Default Where to put the center channel

In my other thread i mentioned that my roommate is looking to buy a big screen & we ran into this tv @ circuit city & liked how it looked but we both wondered how/where the center channel would be placed...

I guess you could build a stand for it so that it sits just under the tv.

I wouldn't get that TV.

I mean, yeah, it looks cool, but it is really designed to either have a center channel mounted on top of it, or it needs you to use the internal speakers.

You would be better with a rear projection DLP/LCD with no base at all, then put it on a stand that is designed to hold a center channel right on it.

Here is a top shelf:

And a potential stand for a TV without an integrated floor stand:
http://www.racksandstands.com/Alphas...X-5AP1024.html
(that one looks cool but check weight/size limitations first!)

Well, as I said, it is designed to have you put the center channel on top of it and the first link there is a mount to allow you to put the center channel there.

With the windows above it, you are in a situation where you can't do that, so you can't do what the manufacturer intended.

That's it - now you know.

Default could you...

Could you rig up TWO center channels so you could space them equal distants from the center post? I saw that TV at my local Magnolia and wondered the same exact thing!

i saw that tv myself (56" of DLP tv!)
but since I didn't know where to put the receivers, players, AND the center. I didn't even consider it.

I say use a speaker stand up front

they make a stand that wraps around the "column" of the tv, so you could put some of your gear there, it had 4 shelves i believe. But regardless, it still leaves center placement up in the air
