Harman/Kardon Service Manuals

UPDATED 11/11/05: Added AVR 340 Service Manual

Recently I went looking for a copy of the service manual for my Harman/Kardon AVR 7300, because I wanted some details on the internals (DAC's used, DSP, etc).

To my dismay, I found that places were actually SELLING these PDF service manuals for $15.99 or more! I knew this information could be had for free, so with a call to H/K and a little social engineering, I was able to get a link to the AVR 7300 PDF Service Manual.

Using my deductive reasoning on how the URL was formed, I was also able to pull down the service manuals for all other Harman/Kardon receivers.

I'm going to post them here in hopes Google spiders this, and also for my fellow Audioholic H/K owners to get to know their receiver a little better.

I think it might be a good idea to perhaps start gathering service manuals for other receiver brands, Denon, Onkyo, Yamaha, NAD, Marantz, etc., etc. and start listing them here for easy access.

These manuals contain lots of GREAT technical information and are invaluable.

This is incredible, what a treat! I wish someone would post the manuals (links) for Denon & Yamaha receivers.

Wow, there's a ton of great information here, I wish I had a service manual for every piece of electronics I own ;-)

Could you PM the details of how what you said to get these manuals? I'd like to get a service manual for my NAD receiver to deal with some of the annoyances I'm experiencing

The manual for the 635 is combined with the 435, and it's listed above

Link to the 235 and others do not work. 7300 works...

I looked at the list at least four times and I still missed it! I must be getting old.

I recently sent emails off to Yamaha and Denon requesting service manuals for their leading receiver models.

I'll let you guys know if they respond. Until then, if anyone does have PDF service manuals for popular receivers, please PM me and I'll host them and post the URL here.

So I just spoke with Yamaha and tried the same social engineering tactic that worked with Harman/Kardon. It seems that not only do you HAVE to purchase the service manual for $18/ea, BUT, they don't even provide it in an electronic format.

This is disappointing.

I'd be willing to take up collections to purchase these manuals and I could convert them to electronic form easily using our high speed document scanner here at the office.

Still waiting to hear back from Denon.

The service manual for a VSX-54TX/VSX-56TXi is $90.08

An interesting note about the new AVR 340 is that Harman/Kardon has upgraded it's DSP to the Cirrus Logic CS49400, the same DSP that is in their flagship AVR 7300.
