Default Horror movie recommendations for Halloween

Sort of in the vein of the other thread "Movie moments that scared the bejeesus out of you" I was wondering what Horror movies everyone would recommend for this month of October?

Can be a classic or recent.

Default Nightmare

Well, its not a horror movie, but Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas, has got to be my absolute favorite Halloween movie.

Newer: The Ring, Final Destination, The Cube, Scream, Mimic

Older: Poltergeist, Jaws, Alien, Night of the Living Dead (great but not that scary), Psycho, The Hitcher

Off the top of my head.

Default Exorcist

The new "prequel" one is weird, but more sickening than scary. The original Exorcist, especially the recently released "The Version You Haven't Seen" is one of my favorite scary flicks. Poltergeist is another. Nightmare Before Christmas is definitely up at the top of my list for Halloween, as is The Crow (Halloween was their wedding night). Of course, Se7en (SE DTS-ES is a must have).

The Omen. The Grudge is fun; it has it's moments. Return of the Living Dead. The Ring 2 was decent if you've seen the first one, if not, rent them both together Tim Burton's Sleepy Hollow is cool, visually impressive. From Hell - Jack the Ripper story. Frailty.

Cool surround: The Haunting DTS-ES, Darkness Falls.

We started off the month by watching the original Alien, which will be followed by the rest of them throughout the month.

Totally agree with the Exorcist, The Crow, The Grudge, and Se7en. Kinda agree with Frailty (just OK in my opinion).

Oh yeah, add Shawn of the Dead (not very scary but very cool), 28 days later, and Idle Hands while we are straying from pure horror/thrillers.

I'd put Frailty in the same group as Grudge and Ring. Entertaining, but not great. There's a LOT of movies like that. Might add the new Amityville, White Noise and Boogeyman in that category too. I liked Boogeyman, but it seemed to run out of steam after a decent start.

Shawn of the Dead was a lot of fun too. . You can add all of the "of the dead" movies in there if you like The most recent one, Land of the Dead was crap, IMO though.

Reanimator American Werewolf in London, The Howling, Cat People. If you pick up Van Helsing Special Edition, it has a bonus disc with some of the good old original horror flicks on there.

Maybe Evil Dead and Evil Dead 2 (not sure if Army of Darkness fits too, but I liked it ).

You recommended Cube??!! I've lost all respect for you.

You have lost the privilege to recommend any more movies!!
