Default I just got Hsu'd!

So I got home today...and what did I find? My Hsu STF-1 I bought off another member! I immediately went downstairs and integrated it into my temporary BIC setup (2 BIC DV62si bookshelves, Yamaha CR-1020 receiver) using the speaker level inputs. I have it out of balance right now (bassaholic), but it's so tight and smooooth. It rumbles my whole basment and it's at about 1 o'clock on the dial. I was listening to some Maroon 5 earlier (if you know Songs About Jane, then you know why I used this to test my subwoofer). Anyway, Secret has some mega rumbly low bass at the beginning. I thought I heard my Hsu rattling, but it turns out it was just the pictures on the walls. Currently a live TOWER OF POWER album is kickin' it, and the Hsu has no trouble with the funky 16th note basslines. A great subwoofer! I'll be sure to follow up more, but I'm too busy listening.

Well, I played with the crossover a bit. I had it originally at 80Hz. I turned it down to ~70Hz. What a difference! I might mess with it a tad more, but my BIC's sound WAY better. The midrange is much clearer, much more detailed. And this isn't a little thing, it's literally hearing notes and things I've never heard before in VERY familar recordings.

Mac...what do you think? I don't know if you've listened to the DV62's with a sub, but try the crossover around 70, it sounds fantastic.

Jaxvon,

Post some pix! Sounds like you're happy with the setup. Always a bonus.

Well, I would post pics, but I'd have to find the digital camera first. Secondly, my wiring job looks really ghetto (I was too lazy to make it look nice, as it is temporary). I'm honestly amazed at how much bass this little 8" woofer can crank out. I guess when it's designed to only hit low stuff, it can really be optimized. At the setting I have it, it's honestly too much bass for the music, but I'm just enjoying the novelty of having a good subwoofer. I really can't imagine what Mule's subs could do...

I couldn't have said it better myself! LOL, Jackson, I'm gonna have to start rooting for Michigan!
