There is an element of risk as these are all relativly new technologies. I bought an LG DLP in Nov 2004 and it has been perfect (so far). I also purchased a 5 year warranty as a hedge against that risk. With the extended warranty you can put reliability second to picture quality, conncetivity and asthetics. I purchased the LG because at the time, it was the largest HD screen with good picture quality that would fit into my custom built Entertainment Center. I saw and liked the Sony LCD but I could see the screen door effect that is common on LCD RP's. I did not see the rainbow effect that is associated with DLP. You need to check this out for yourself.

Hopefully you have the ability to view your options before you buy. Once you have found what you like, the purchase can be made from whomever you feel offers the best value and support. I purchased mine from a B&M retailer but with an in-home warranty, I would not hesitate to purchase on-line if i got a better price.

Thanks Hidog1 . I have seen the dlp at my local dealer but apparently that had a bad splitter on that display because the same brand in the 44" looked better . I am unable to compare the 60" sony , my dealer only had the 70" and I think that one was a dlp 1080p for like $11,000 . Anyone have the 60" sony kdfe60a20 , or was able To view it ???
