sounds like they will be some great receivers, sure wish I had HDMI switching for when the new game consoles come out and with analog upconversion, very nice.

No analog video upconversion to HDMI on the 3806, bummer. Maybe with the 3807? Clint, do you know what if any OSD is available on either receiver with HDMI (my favorite topic )?

I think Pioneer's 74TXvi is going to do very well given that it offers much of what the 4306 has at a $500 savings and that it offers analog-to-HDMI transcoding and i.Link for a $200 premium.

It is unfortunate that Pioneer (except their lower end offerings) does not get more editorial coverage at Audioholics in deferrence to Denon and Yamaha.

It's not by choice. Pioneer doesn't seem to value the web as much as Denon or Yamaha. They still have their priorities focused on Print Magazines, with have much lower readership and often dismal product coverage.

Default Nice snazzy remote !

Whoa! Check out that snazzy remote. Kudos to Denon for keeping the price of the 3806 to $1299 (only up $100 MSRP over the 3805). That $100 easily covers the setup mic, the better remote, the HDMI ins/out, as well as the Audyssey MultEq. Hopefully they've fixed the zone2/zone3 digital processing issue.

Default This should become a standard feature...

I honestly think this feature should become standard in the next 3 years:

* PC Setup and Control capability *

Especially in units over the $1000 category.

How many times have ppl dropped a line in the forums about misconfigurations and asking about resetting units?

Just the ability to save the 'last known good' profile would be a godsent. With that, you could restore a good profile back to the unit at any given time. IMO it would be an awesome feature.

Receivers are becoming more and more complex and such features could definitely cut down alot of frustration and would not only be useful for custom installers. Other features like firmware upgrades, calibration apps, etc, would also be a possible.

Just a thought.

P.S. the remote looks cool

Gene-

I did not really mean to malign Audioholics. I guess it is just frustrating because I find the reviews here thorough and otherwise excellent.

I am not surprised by your response since I think Pioneer's marketing department is DOA. They seem to enjoy soft (often silent) product launches and do little to seed customer enthusiasm. Heck, they have a hard time getting their website updated after product launches and you maybe get a review of a product in print shortly before it is EOLed. I guess they still think it is the 1970s or something.

I wonder if their response would be to a number of people writing in to complain about the dearth of information?
