Didn't see much write up on the Blu Ray The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. Netflixed this one, never went to theater to see. Movie was better than expected, typical Mummy fare, pretty fun. Looked really good in Blu, and the DTS sound track ranks right up there for sonic excitement. Plenty of great Ultra material, with lots of gunfire, explosions, and a avalanche and more. Found the China location to be an interesting choice with the Terracotta Soldiers featured. Worth a rent.

Thanks DTS. I've never seen it, and have been meaning to if only because I won an auction for a poster at a cystic fibrosis charity event. Signed by the entire special effects crew and director. :D

Speaking of terracotta warriors, I did recently see Baraka on BD and I quite recommend it. :D

Thanks DTS for the heads-up. Like you, I was not expecting to much. However, to my surprise it was a decent movie. The LFE was incredible at times! So much so, that I had to turn the volume down a bit.:eek: Happy Holidays! ;);)

Cheers,

Phil

I watched this movie this weekend. I will admit that the sound track was pretty impressive...however, the story and acting itself sucked. Just my 2 cents. Frasier and the guy who played the brother in the first two were on point...but the rest of the movie seemed like it was phoned in. The writing was terrible. The woman who played opposite of Frasier had a terrible fake accent. Oh well, the action scenes sounded good though.

This movie was fodder. Other than the hot asian chick, it had little going for it. It was just a big fat cash in. Even the limited use of Jet Li was a waste. I saw it in theaters and have no desire to watch it on BD. Baraka on the other hand, I am very interested in.

I liked the movie visually and sonically, but agree the acting and story were not up to par with the first two. I got it for Christmas, so no regrets, but would think twice about buying it at current BD prices unless you just like having the set.

Saw it last night and would say it's your typical Mummy fare. Great A/V. Once the action started it didn't stop. I felt a little worn out at the end. Definitely worth a rental.

Darn,,, 50/50 split on like and dislike. I have the 1st two Mummy movies and really enjoyed them both. Is it even worth a rental?

It is not as good as the first two, but it is in the same vein (a little too much so) and has decent effects, good sound, so I would say it is worth a rental. It was just a little bit too formulaic for me, kind of like watching Friday the 13th 7, 8, 9... I own the first two as well.
