Would you guys be interested in reviewing one of the TC Sounds units that I mentioned previously? The sub $1000 model should be an awesome subwoofer given the driver parameters and overall design.

LMS-5400 15inch driver:


• Quadruple stacked ¾" tall ferrite magnets
• 516oz motor structure
• xmax of 38mm (one way linear travel)
• Dual (10") poly-cotton spiders with intergraded woven leads
• Extra spacing in-between spiders for lateral stability
• Extra clearance under the suspension for dynamic high excursions
• Detachable cast aluminum basket with high gloss power coating
• 4" diameter, 4-layer, dual 2.0Ω aluminum linear voice coil
• Ultra high thermal capacity zero eddy current titanium voice coil former
• 2500 watts continuous , 8000 watts peak
• High quality thermal flexible epoxies to ensure longevity
• Rigid lightweight brushed titanium cone
• Vented flared pole piece
• Aluminum shorting ring
• Tall durable rubber surround allows for extreme excursion
• Optional competition package for even higher sensitivity and output.
• Dressed in a rubber magnet boot and gasket
• Hand built in our San Diego, CA factory

i realize that the mbm has a specially designed driver for the midbass frequencies.

but with the same line of thinking ... if we were to set a low cut crossover on a true subwoofer, it too would have an easier job of producing the midbass, because it doesn't have to produce the low bass ...

when you stated HSU's goals for the mbm, I just realized that's exactly what I was looking for in my setup (and I am using a subwoofer in both near and far field) - that's the closest I can get to my goals of chest slam and linear frequency response.

Sheep, is there any reason you won't start your own thread about TC Sounds and quit hijacking this one?

I'm suggesting the TC Sounds unit to see if it would be a good Alternative to the MBM-12 + whatever subwoofer.

I believe my posts are still very much on topic. Yours on the other hand, aren't.

I must have missed it. Just where in the following did you suggest that TC Sounds would be a good alternative to anything?

How was your last post related to anything in this thread again? I'm not seeing it.

Sheep, I don't know about you but TC looks like it want's to barge in on SVS a bit...

Hey, more choices for all of us. Not to mention it looks like it could take a fight on with SVS.

Considering they've been manufacturing drivers for SVS for years, I think they know exactly what the competition is.

Man that sub looks like it could blast your heart right out of your chest!!! Gimme, gimme, gimme!

Plus the specs said "• Hand built in our San Diego, CA factory". If it's made in San Diego, it MUST be good!:D
