How good is the DACs that come with the receiver/pre for music?

Hi guys. I may sound like a new kid in town and I know you guys have very impressive setup so please don't laugh. I recently got an used Marantz NA7004 just because I want its flexibility to play music from any source: from NAS, thumb drive, or streaming from itune if I happen to use a pc for...

    Marantz MM7055 to drive 4ohm-speakers?

I am ready to pull the trigger for a new 5ch amp. I had a chance to buy a mint Rotel RMB-1075 at my area and the seller didn't want to wait for my final decision. I am now looking into Emo XPA5 or an used MM7055 (50% off MSRP). The problem is that the Marantz doesn't public the Amp performance...

    recommend a used 5ch amp?

Hi, quick summary: I did a quick comparison between my Carver TFM-45 vs HK PA5800 which I thought it was ok(not great) until now. I have the carver for 2ch and I enjoy it very much. I kept blaming the Sony 5ES or speakers but now it's the AMP. Music sounds so clear and live with Carver and I...

    pre/pro vs AVR

Hi, I myself and have seen many people use the receiver as the pre-amp and multichannel amp to drive speakers. Why should we pay for the amp section in the AVR that we don't intend to use? and I am very sure the pre-amp is very important too. Why didn't Yamaha, Denon release a version of AVR...

Emotiva UPA-5 to replace HK PA-5800

Hi, My 2ch amp died and I am looking for a new one. I am debating between the HK3490 or UPA-2 but now I have a different though. Replace my 5ch PA5800 with UPA-5 and use the PA5800 for my 2ch setup and I can bi-amp my speakers with 4 channels. What do you think? I have no idea how the PA5800...
