This could be the HTPC killer... maybe...

I just built a one, an Acer Revo 1600 running xbmc under ubuntu. Paid 200 for the acer plus about 20 dollars for the usb infra red receiver. Performance is better than I expected, atom/ion combination is killer.

    12V Trigger Help

I'm in the same boat with an Onkyo 707 trying to trigger an apc power filter. I don't use zone 2 for anything so I added turning on/off zone 2 to my remote control's startup/shutdown macros. Works perfectly with one small problem. If you run the Audyssey set up the system disables zone...

    Onkyo TX-SR806 Zone 2

Just got a sr707 but I believe a lot of the functionality is the same. I'm using a macro button on the onkyo remote to turn on my tv, receiver and satellite box so I just added turning on zone 2 to the macro. Same thing with the macro to turn everything off.

    Advice on Adcom 5503

I have been using a 5503 for a few years to drive some 4 ohm speakers. This amp is a beast, it can drive the speakers to a volume level as high as I care to go without any kind of problem. I have posted some pics of the insides of the amp in another thread...

GUTZ! Post your favorite amplifier and receiver inards

10.7kva?? You would need roughly a 75 amp circuit to feed that I would think.

I don't have a center channel speaker. The speakers I use are difficult to find a good matching center.

GUTZ! Post your favorite amplifier and receiver inards

Here is a adcom 5503 It has 6 big 18,000 uf 100 volt caps and a bunch of smaller ones. It is supposed to have 40,000 uf for each of the 3 channels. The transformer is 2kva. I only use 2 channels on it to drive my left and right mains.

    Is this a gimic?

The guy that created that is Bruce Thigpen and it is most definitely not a scam. Here is a link to some demo video where they illuminate the fan blades with a laser so you can see the pitch changing. http://bassment.wordpress.com/

    External Amp...

Two Behringer A500's bridged, each amp drives one speaker. That should make them sing pretty good. No fan on these either, completely silent.

looking for "better" PC to reciever solution

I'm using an old xbox running the open source xbox media center software. It will stream just about any audio file format over a network. Output is converted to Dolby digital(the old xbox had an nvidea soundstorm chipset), and sent via optical to my avr. Everything stays digital until it...

I'm furious and now poor. Please help!!

It is quite easy, just plug the front right and left channel pre-outs from the integra to the inputs on the amp. Hook the speaker cables up to the external amp and recalibrate.

I'm furious and now poor. Please help!!

I think you need more power and you don't need to spend 3-4k to get it. Have you considered less expensive external amps? I would recommend the Behringer a500 which ironically, can be had for around 200 bucks. This amp should be able to drive your main speakers better than the integra and it...

    Auto calibration

I use it and it works very well. It does an excellent job and all of the settings can be manually adjusted if you don't agree with the auto settings. It is very easy to see if you like what it is doing as you can turn it on/off single button on the remote. I believe Yamaha, Denon and...

Bose specs aint half as bad as "branded" sats/sub

Interesting.... My Mangepans have speaker elements that are 10"x36", so both speakers are 720 inches. They are dipoles so that would double the radiating area to 1440 inches. So using Bose's pricing model I should have paid around $14,000 for them.

Spoiled by my HT system, now everything sucks

I have a Bose system in an Acura. Bought the care used so it was not my choice. The system has 6 speakers and an external amp in the trunk. It sounds dreadful. I've adjusted everything possible to no avail. I'd say it is a small step up from the cheap k-mart systems - kraco??

    Speakers for Large Music

I'm running the mmgs with a Behringer A500 and I am quite happy with it. I would say that any amp that is stable with a 4 ohm load would be fine as long as you don't want party room type sound volume. I have driven the A500 to clipping and the speakers certainly appear more than able to take...
