I think you can. I have the Oppo 971 with the DVI output. I have a DVI to HDMI conversion cable connecting the player to the HDMI input of my receiver. My Oppo upconverts to 1080i through its DVI output. I think your Oppo does the same upconversion through it's HDMI output. All you need is a...

    PAL DVDs

I believe your Chinese all region players will convert the PAL video to NTSC. I am a big fan of British mysteries which I can buy from Amazon.uk. I had a cheap Cyberhome dvd player which played PAL dvds just fine even though this conversion capability wasn't advertised.

Has anybody had a problem with the latest Oppo firmware upgrade?

I have some TV shows in the form of Divx files which I was able to play on my Oppo 971H dvd player until I loaded the Sept. 22 firmware upgrade. After the upgrade the sound on the Tv shows is bad. The dialog is barely audible. The sound is stereo and was recorded in mpeg-1 audio. The programs...

What channels are the worst? Are you having problems on just some channels or a group of channels? I have the same model box from Cox Cable and had similar problems until I replaced the cable coming in from the wall. I was able to solve my problem by buying new cable from Radio Shack. (I think...

Are you getting anything at all from the cable box- audio? video? If you are sending the cable box audio through a coaxial or optical cable, you might check...

I Fixed It! Thanks! OK. I got the grill cloth off. I removed the screws holding the woofer in place and was able to reach behind it and move the threaded insert back into place. That was NO fun . These stands which I am trying to connect to my speakers are the JBL stands that go with them...

    A Speaker Repair Question.

I was in the process of mounting a bookshelf speaker to its speaker stand when the threaded metal insert in the base of the speaker came loose and fell back inside the speaker. The speaker is a JBL Northridge N26. It appears to be sealed so the only access is the hole in the bottom where the...

Audio setup question (sat -> tv & ht? -yup newbie ques)

I think you will be OK running the RCA audio to your TV and the optical audio to your receiver. You are not splitting the sound as such. The optical audio out is digital and the RCA audio out is analog. That is the way I've got my system set up and I've not noticed any loss in sound. I've got a...
