I got the Sony 90's..wow is all I can say. Perfect in every way, blow the Shure's completely out of the water. Comfort, cord length, bass, treble, mids...love the Sony headphone sound , which I would describe with the mids lower than the bass and highs..like a curve on the EQ with the mids...

No such thing as bass too strong. i have the 51's and the 81's and i am thinking of going to the 90's as there isn't enough bass in them. To each their own!

I have demoed the Shure headphones and i was extremely disappointed. I saw them at a local store and almost crapped as i thought you could only get them on line. My Sony buds, both the 51s and the 81s kill them in the bass. I am thinking of getting the Sony 90's as the Shures have no bass...

The Tragically Hip "Blow at High Dough". Not the crappy sounding "remastered" Greatest Hits version but the original "Up To Here" CD version. That bass drum kicks in and that awesome fuzzy guitar. Wow.

Thanks alot guys for all the responses. I may get an Oppo as for that price, you can't go wrong. I may end up selling my Denon 2910 if the picture is as good...however, my analog DAC's on the 2910 are really sweet and it beat every Yamaha player I tied so it may still be of some use for music...

will the new Denon players be as fussy about reading discs as the 2910? Mp3's on a DVD?

sorry for my ignorance but where does one hear any of these bands mentioned? I didn't recognize one and I Dj. Stuff wayyyy over my head I would admit. I would love to listen to this as i have lost faith in todays music as well as recording engineers making CDs sound horrid and loud.

upmixes are crap. Well most of them. They are made by somebody with DTS software from a regular CD. The Genesis one is an actual DTS recording I think. I have found some awesome DTS stuff. ZZ Top, Meat Loaf, Queen, and Guns n Roses and Pink Floyd the Wall..awesome!
