What do you think of 8k TVs so far?

I'd only consider 8K if it was curved screen and 3D.

    regarding Denon PMA-110 amplifier review.

A very thorough review for what seems to be a very well performing piece of gear. One issue has me confused. You point out legitimate and pretty important shortcomings. To wit: no sub woofer out, no pre amp out, no XLR input connections. Add a $3500 price tag and you say you "Gotta have it!"...

Repair or Replace - Samsung PN64F8500 Plasma

I own a Samsung plasma, 51" 8500 series I believe, and it went out after only 2-1/2 years. Parts not available. I was lucky to find a guy who had 2 brand new boards, so I snagged one. It was easy after that.

Repair or Replace - Samsung PN64F8500 Plasma

Had the same problem with my Samsung plasma. It was the power supply board. Repair parts are no longer available. You can exchange your damaged board for a refurbished one. Get the part number and do a search on Google.

    Looking through my local craigslist,

Yeah, you're right QLED. Well OK, is the QLED Samsung technology an issue?

    Looking through my local craigslist,

... seems like there are a lot of used Samsung OLEDs for sale. Is there something going on with OLEDs?

I did purchase from a seller who was supposed to be able to provide service. Unfortunately that seller was Sears.

    help with TV

I understand how warranties work. My complaint with Samsung's customer service was their complete indifference toward offering any help at all. This was compounded by fact they don't make the part anymore so there was no replacement. After only one year? I'm not interested in investing almost...

    help with TV

As a former Samsung owner, I would recommend that you buy the Sony. When my Samsung plasma failed after only 3 years, Samsung's customer service basically told me to pound sand.

DVD player connection to 4k TV yeilds bad picture

Just spring for a new Sony 4K capable DVD. You'll be able to connect via 1 HDMI cable. Done and with a lot less aggravation.

    Monoprice $50/pair Bookshelf Speakers Reviewed!

I'd add a brace between the woofer and tweeter, replace the tweeter cap with a film cap, and play with the stuffing. Typically closed cabinets have more stuffing than these appear to have.

Speaker Stands for Definitive Technology 9040’s

The tweeters should be at about ear height when you're sitting. That will tell you how high the speaker stands need to be.

Use a heat gun. I've used it both for veneer/contact cement and veneer/cold press glue.

Well Dennis, if you can't tell the difference in Audyns and Solens, it's obvious you have a severe hearing problem! :)

    crossover upgrades

I'd certainly concur with Dennis on the Mills resistors. I've used Mills, Lynx, Ohmite, and Eagle resistors. I've found Mills and Ohmite to be the most pleasing to my ears. I just don't care for the ceramic resistors.

    crossover upgrades

to weigh in to this often rancorous subject, I tend to pooh pooh demonstrable differences between cables. But I have to say that after years of using Solen or PE caps, when I tried Audyn caps in my crossovers, there was a subtle but audible difference in high frequency smoothness and resolution...

    Samsung plasma power supply

The tech at the shop said the board couldn't be fixed. So I was trying (ultimately unsuccessfully) to get the board back. Apparently there are many places that fix these damaged boards. Was going for a second opinion. In the meantime I managed to locate a NEW board for a couple hundred bucks...
