6 Best Bookshelf Speakers for Under $100/Pair

In the $100 price range, but powered, the Klipsch Prologic trio (two satellites and a woof) is an excellent sounding set.

Even Headphones Customize Sound to Your Hearing

This sounds like a great idea to me. An auto-calibration of an equalizer in the headphones to match our hearing deficiencies - and everyone has some. As a 72 year old I have a dedicated equalizer hooked up to every listening source, whether my tablet, phone, desktop computer or stereo system...

Which tablet for good quality music source...

My limited experience with a Bluetooth device in line with my particular setup is that it degraded the sound quality noticeably. Is my experience common? Or was something screwed up in my particular setup. Anyway, I plan to hard wire where feasible and use wifi where necessary.

Which tablet for good quality music source...

Up till I moved 2 months ago, my main system was in the house - a desktop computer as the primary source going out USB to my Outlaw integrated amp with a built in DAC then to my Definitive 8040 speakers. Since we moved, I am keeping my desktop computer in the house and moving the audio system...

    PB2000 or VTF3 MK5HP ... Edit: Or ???

"Here is an illustration of the performance difference of a sealed vs ported design, all other things being equal." Yes, that is why me thinks that that referenced model might be my best bet in my price range. Thanks for reminding me.

    PB2000 or VTF3 MK5HP ... Edit: Or ???

Then the Hsu vtf-2 MK 5 would be better than the SVS SB2000 for my purposes - and $100 less? (I miswrote "Mark 2" in my question.) Here is the MK 5 info... http://www.hsuresearch.com/products/vtf-2mk5.html Yes, I understand the two I mentioned are different: one sealed, one ported. I...

Which tablet for good quality music source...

Sounds like a wonderful system, Shoote. I will be running the tablet via wifi in the garage. The router is in the house 35 feet a away, so I won't be hard wiring the device - unless there is a good reason to. I get a strong enough signal. Tablets come with a variety of outputs: Headphone...

    PB2000 or VTF3 MK5HP ... Edit: Or ???

I was following this thread and have a question with a slightly different twist. I am also torn between the SVS (SB2000 $699 with shipping) and the Hsu (Mark 2 $599 with shipping). These are different models from those posed by the OP. Duals are not an option. For music, I don't understand...

Which tablet for good quality music source...

I would like to dedicate the use of a tablet as the primary music source for my main music system. Are there significant differences in the output quality between current versions of tablets in the $100 to $300 range? Should I consider only tablets that have a USB output to run into the DAC in...

    Klipsch R-115SW Subwoofer Overview

This Klipsch sub is now $719, including shipping, on Amazon Prime. The pricing would seem to make this a solid competitor for subs in the $600 to $800 price range. And this: The XV15SE is both sold out and discontinued and the V15, the lowest priced current PS Audio version, is $225 more than...

Outlaw rr2150 or Yamaha rs 700 for music only

After over a year of this thread, I still didn't see a direct answer to the OP question: Which one, the Outlaw or the Yamaha? I'd still like to hear educated preferences between the two ONLY. I'll throw in a twist: The Outlaw ($699) or the new Yamaha A-S801 ($899). The new Yamaha as I...

    Outlaw RR2150 Stereo Receiver Reviewed

I have a dilemma. I am torn between this amp for $699, versus the new Yamaha A-S801 for $899. This amp has a basic DAC with USB in. The Yamaha has a more sophisticated DAC with all three types of digital ins. For me it boils down to the difference in quality of the audio output. If I needed...

    Outlaw RR2150 Stereo Receiver Reviewed

The Audioholics review indicated the Treble control center point was 10kHz. The manual and tech for Outlaw both say 1kHz. Big difference. How responsive is the treble control compared to what you are accustomed to on a receiver. If it was centered at 1kHz instead of 10kHz, what would your...
