Audio Gear Cleaning
I have used the “Windex Electronics” cleaner with good success. I spray a small amount on a microfiber cloth and wipe. Do not spray directly on components. Removes finger prints nicely and doesn’t streak. It seems a bit pricey for what is probably no more than mild cleaners you can get elsewhere...

Reverse Engineering a Loudspeaker
Thanks for the links Swerd. The plan is to port the rear of the cab like the original. I am now considering plywood for its stiffer properties and I think finishing may actually be easier. Plywood is still considerably cheaper than the bamboo would be and can be sourced locally.

Reverse Engineering a Loudspeaker
Update…. The components were somewhat cheaper than I budgeted for so that’s a plus. OTOH, Dave recommended not using mdf as I would have to double up to 1.5” thick to match the rigidity of bamboo. He did provide a link for 20mm layered bamboo ply but as one can imagine it’s considerably more...

Reverse Engineering a Loudspeaker
Thanks Swerd but…let’s not get ahead of ourselves here. As Boat commented, making a box isn’t hard, however if one isn’t paying attention it’s entirely possible to make a mess of that too. ;)

Reverse Engineering a Loudspeaker
I do have the necessary tools for this project, table saw, router, jig saw, bar clamps etc. Between woodworking and construction experience I feel I should be able to handle the build. Front baffle being the critical component here is understood. Since I’m not sure of the wall thickness with the...

Reverse Engineering a Loudspeaker
Thanks for the reply TLS I’m glad to hear it’s a viable project. I sure hated the idea of having these great components go to waste.

Reverse Engineering a Loudspeaker
As many here probably know, Ascend Acoustics has provided an upgrade path for their speakers, and I will be performing the upgrade on my Sierra Towers RAAL. I am considering the possibility of "reverse engineering" a set of cabinets so I can re-use the original drivers in a DIY type of build. I...

Sound diffusion below 80 Hz
https://www.researchgate.net/publication/5327159_Enhancing_bass_absorbers_using_activated_carbon Not an easy read but… If my understanding is correct low frequencies, especially those below 125hz cause huge pressure nodes within a room that muddy the bass and mask the harmonics that exist up...

77inch oled LG C class or go Sony?
I have had the LG 77” C1 for right at 1 year now. I do game a lot through the winter months and some days for 8 hrs or more. So far, I have seen no issues with any type of burn in. Coming from a Panasonic plasma, I find the picture to be outstanding. I didn’t do much right out of the box to tune...

Is it Time to Cut the Cord?
Cut my ties with Dish about 6 mo ago. I remember when a cable subscription meant no ads, all the movie channels and not a bad basic lineup. These days, you have to put up with Ads and programming such as "How to Fix Crepe Skin" info programs etc. Complete garbage! If they would include...

Sony OLED A90J or LG OLED
There are plenty of reviews on You Tube Sony vs LG. Essentially if you are a gamer, LG will have better response and 4 eArc hdmi vs 1 on the Sony. LG doesn't get as bright but depending on lighting conditions, sunlit room vs home theatre or mostly watch at night, you may not need the extra nits...

Is this used Plasma worth buying?
I found this site while searching for used Panasonics. https://www.backmarket.com At the time, they had several plasmas, two Pannys and the prices were comparable to used Ebay items. Difference is, Back Market has a six month warranty. At the moment, it seems they have none. I have not...

Plasma display source
I discovered a website called Back Market. https://www.backmarket.com They sell refurbished electronics. I found them while desperately hoping I could find a plasma display for sale somewhere. I was wondering if anyone had heard of them or purchased from them?

Monopoly, Axis and Allies, Risk. All original versions. I grew up playing these with family and friends, still excellent games. It doesnt happen as often but, can still get people to come together and join in once in a while.

Paradigm Studio 100 with which receiver??
I guess what i'm asking, can these measurements show us something other than just impedence? Various resonances perhaps. This belongs in another thread though. Oh and I cant imagine that ADTG would EVER listen at loud volumes, what with all that RBH goodness. I know I would. :D
