Have a hum in one speaker. What might be causing this? I know this thing is probably junk but have a kid who likes it and I'm trying to fix it up for her.

Hooked up turntable to phono plug on 1969 Toshiba 5550M stereo radio. Very little sound on speakers. Phono plug runs an ipod just fine with lots of sound. Turntable works on another receiver. Any suggestions?
