Help Me Choose a Receiver, please! (under $1,000)

If you're a Costco member, maybe consider a Pioneer SC-1522-k for $599. Call around to local warehouses to see if they have item # 751220. It is not available through their website. Pioneer SC 1522K for $599.99 at Costco I considered the Onkyo 818 for quite some time, the biggest...

My quest for stereo loudspeakers under $3,000

On to the NHT Four: These may be best described as perhaps the most flat and sterile speaker that I've heard, I have no way to prove this without measuring equipment of course. My main criticisms is that they sound like bookshelves with subwoofers attached, which is coincidentally, what they...

My quest for stereo loudspeakers under $3,000

Anything with vocals, or actual (non synthetic) instrumentation. A specific track is not necessary. I think the MAIN issue here is that I never really cranked them, nor could I evaluate them if I did. I DO NOT LISTEN LOUD. Usually, when I go to demo speakers, I end up turning the levels to...

My quest for stereo loudspeakers under $3,000

It has become apparent, with less than 4 hours of break in, that the bottom end on these Verus Grands is SLOPPY and BOOMY, completely unacceptable for me. This is not the type of the thing that will improve with break in. The midrange and highs in these are quite nice, though, and I expect them...

My quest for stereo loudspeakers under $3,000

First impression after setting up my Aperion Verus Grands, this is precisely what I'm looking for in a loudspeaker, neutral, a tad bit warm in all of the right places. Also a bit boomy, but nothing that Q plugs couldn't fix, and probably has more to do with my own room acoustics, although the...

My quest for stereo loudspeakers under $3,000

I think I found the winner. They're so popular, that they're nowhere to be found.

    AudioSource AMP210, AMP310?

Anyone have any experience with the AudioSource AMP210 or AMP310? I have never heard of them, but they are available at Homedepot.com, are based in Oregon, and seem like they may have some actual value... Or is this one of those "Bargain" companies like Pyle?

    HK 3490 vs Onkyo A-9050

Anyone have any EXPERIENCE with BOTH the HK 3490 vs the Onkyo A-9050? Go!

My quest for stereo loudspeakers under $3,000

My only problem with B&Ws is their supposed massive power consumption, and even I were able to somehow get the B&Ws w/o sales tax so they could fit in my budget, it would be quite some time before I could afford a capable amp. On a side note, I just dragged my SVS Ultras Towers down into the...

Using an AVR for 2 channel. Any benefit with Bi-Amping? Are any bridgeable?

Ed Frias is known mostly for his DIY kits that Madisound used to sell, his BIC-America XO mods, and a few speakers, most notably his T-50 EFE Technology T-50 Floorstanding Speakers Reviews R&L comes to pick up the SVS towers tomorrow, finally! Although I'm not looking forward to moving them...

Using an AVR for 2 channel. Any benefit with Bi-Amping? Are any bridgeable?

The only thing this 9050 really NEEDS is a USB input.

If only the volume knob still worked on my old Pioneer VSX D511

Strange Pioneer VSX D511 volume problem...

Mine has a similar problem. On mine, the knob is rendered useless, sometimes it works, sometimes in reverse. There are even instances where it will begin turning itself up very loudly, to the point of clipping, or turn itself down to a whisper. There is a gremlin in the knob for sure. Try...

Ascend Sierra Tower with RAAL ribbon upgrade.

I really wish I could find some of these locally to listen to. The Ascends were heavenly, at least in their listening room.

Using an AVR for 2 channel. Any benefit with Bi-Amping? Are any bridgeable?

The HK 3490 has the Onkyo 9050 beat by significantly by a much lower price. Therein lies the preference for the HK3490. And the probable better customer service. I still have not been able to get through to Onkyo to ask a few simple questions. If at some point later down the line, I wish to...

Video Review: SVS Ultra Series Speakers

When I say they lacked midrange, it was as if all stringed, acoustic instruments had been run through a metallic tube/filter, or had been sourced from 192k mp3s. Guitars, Harps, Pianos sounded digitized at best.

Using an AVR for 2 channel. Any benefit with Bi-Amping? Are any bridgeable?

I guess I should just look at an HK 3490, it seems like the best bang for the buck at the moment.

Using an AVR for 2 channel. Any benefit with Bi-Amping? Are any bridgeable?

I'm talking about the $799 deal from Vann's and Amazon. Once I'm in the $1250 bracket, it becomes easier to justify an ATI or Emotiva.
