    Teac Reference Series

TEAC A-H500I SM Service Manual free download, schematics, eeprom, repair info for electronics Thought that might be usefull for someone? Bought a AV-H500D, compared directly, the 500i sounds a fair bit better in stereo. The d sounded good, but the I is noticeably cleaner. Remote operate both...

Lost on the road to the Perfect Home Theatre PC...

I think you're doing this wrong. I'd salvage your cpu, board and ram that you have, buy everything you need around it. Case, drives etc. Get a smaller SSD storage, and spend the change on an extra 3tb. Then at least you're up and running now rather than 3 or 4 months time, then once the rest...

    Teac 500 HTPC

Having had a couple spare hours today, thought I'd knock this up out of a few spare bits. AS Rock 350m1 board, 500gb HD, and a psu board that worked out cheaper than a pico.... Only needed an angle grinder, a drill, a screwdriver and a pair of pliers if anyone is wondering.

    Teac 500 HTPC

Tis going to be very tight... Nylon turned up, wasn't looking forward to trying to get a screw in that. Stumbled across motherboard standoff's on ebay in every length possible. So I've got them in 35mm length. Picked up some rubber mounts for the HDs. They should space it up just enough to fit...

    Teac 500 HTPC

Someone else mentioned that, probably a wise move, but I'm after more power than that. Talking out loud and making notes for a poor memory, better than a notepad a build thread. Hard drive, I'll chop up the nylon drill a hole x 4, drill a hole in bottom of the cd deck, get some long m3 screws...

    Teac Legacy AG-L800 Feeler

I have one of these for sale if it is of any use to anyone, although I'm in the UK so I'm only after £85 for the unit but postage is £60. Comes with a brand new learning remote.

    Teac 500 HTPC

Had a rejig, might have found the winning combination.... Drives as per the picture, 2x SSD in the bottom right. Replace the graphics card with the sound card(s), TV Tuner top left with that one drive raised 5mm to clear the card (back of card is very slim) Raise the board just...

DTS HD decoding to analogue out - Asus Sound card range?

Interesting... Could I ask what basis you've got for that comment? Isn't what I read elsewhere albeit in a computer orientated world. They seem to be the best you can get.

DTS HD decoding to analogue out - Asus Sound card range?

I want to use an older receiver which doesn't have the ability to decode modern format's, so I'm looking at the asus range of sound cards to output an analogue signal to the multi channel in on the amp. Now I get the impression it is only the HDAV1.3 that gives the full DTS HD decoding? And...

    Teac 500 HTPC

Cheers. Which one are you planning on doing? I did take a few pictures, but failed to put the memory stick back in and have lost the cable. I got the power supply today, a power supply I should say, they were out of stock of the modular SFX silverstone I ordered, and decided to send the non...

Sound card as a pre amp? Vs HT amp? + the ageold stereo performance debate.

I had thought of that, especially since the power amp doesn't have any volume knobs on the front, separate items would be a pain. Just thought it could be modulated via the pc remote/mouse, but when I think of the amount of times things have already popped up loudly as it is. You're definitely...

    Teac 500 HTPC

As you may or may not be aware, I am in the process of building an HTPC type setup into a Teac 500 CD player, I'm using the matching amp, which is the main motivation to do so. Also to get rid of the large PC I currently own. The PC needs to be relatively potent, competently play games, Run CAD...

    why build?

Building your own allows you to spec things to what you want, so that £20 PSU doesn't take out a few parts in 14 months time when it fails and upon removal you see a clapping panda stamped on the side.

Sound card as a pre amp? Vs HT amp? + the ageold stereo performance debate.

The Asus STX also looks very good, givng full rca 7.1 out via an expansion card, expensive, but could it be worth it? Seems it is a few years old. How would it react to as modern bluray type format?

    Modding old serparates into PC's

    Modding old serparates into PC's

I've spent a long time looking at HTPC cases, had a fair few but none really tickle my pickle. The above is nice, but still doesn't match. The loud silverstone I was talking about was this... I'm not trying to knock other peoples setups if that is how it comes across. I've made a start...

    Building a FLAC box?

If I had money I'd just buy the £500 box! Got a bit of time though, trying to make use of it while I do. Maybe the Pi isn't the best for the job, they do pico itx boards now with more i/o's and a faster spec. Openelec sound ideal though, will look into that. Doesn't have to be a touchscreen...

    Modding old serparates into PC's

See I don't see it as minimization, just simplification. Mounting the board is easy, as is building the computer, drilling holes for fans/screws, gluing the Teac drive front to the dvd unit. The only slightly difficult part in the fabrication is mounting the drives, but I don't see that as too...
