    LCD vs. Plasma

Panasonic st series all the way. Burn-in is all but gone these days, although new panels will show some image retention until they get some time on them. The added heat is not that big an issue. And unless the placement gets a ton of direct light- natural or other, plasmas are a no-brainer. Good...

    60 " Plasma on a budget

It is my opinion that Panasonic does make the best plasmas. I currently have 2. Their customer service is excellent as well. I agree with bmxrtix about stepping up to the st if you can. But, the u series is a great value. Check your price though. I just bought a tc-p60u50 for 999 on amazon last...

    pioneer bs-22 mounting options

Wall mounting is not my first choice, I would prefer to use stands. Wall mounting is what I,m being asked to do. I,ve been looking at those pinpoint mounts as an option. I,d like to know for sure that they work. Has anyone actually used them.

    pioneer bs-22 mounting options

wondering if anyone has come up with any good mounting options for the bs-22 speakers. ive been reading through the posts in the bs52/22 review thread to try and find some info. there are just too many posts in there. the odd shape of these speakers is making my decision to buy mounts kind of...

    Help with wiring!

Have never used cat6 hdmi, so can,t comment. You can, however, use rg6 for sub wiring if you choose. Works just fine. As far extra cabling goes, it all depends on access to the space. If its easy, just run what you need now. If it,s difficult, spare hdmi in case one fails- high speed with arc...

new year, time for a new car?

The dealership I work for has a Hyundai franchise. Hyundai is notoriously stingy- they won't pay for anything. So if they are offering to compensate you pending an investigation, squeeze them hard. I'm thinking you had to have some emotional trauma. Haha

    Whole home audio set-up/system

there are speakers in place- appear to be jbl. unfortunately, no volume controls. iwas thinking avr- for source selection- and maybe a speaker switch like this Niles Audio Corporation Selectors with Volume Controls&categoryID=Speaker Selectors&catcdID=7&prdcdID=FG01044 to give me volume...

Is it okay to have one end of interconnects not connected?

Not an issue, just take precautions to keep the exposed ends from shorting.

    Whole home audio set-up/system

After searching through multiple posts on this subject, I decided to fire up a new thread. A friend I'm mine has a home that the previous owner wired for what appears to be 6 stereo zones- I haven't run down all the wiring yet. He wishes to put this to whole home use and came to me for some...

    yamaha a710 or the a720

If you are going to get an Apple TV anyway, go with the 710. The biggest difference between them is that the 720 has airplay, which you get with the Apple TV.

Setup question, receiver and cable box

What model is your receiver. It may be capable of hdmi pass-through which would allow you to leave everything set up the way you have it now. When your dad comes over, just give him the remote for the cable box. Program it for tv volume, and you are done.

Need help choosing the right receiver

+1 to everything avengineer said. Add a little bit of future proofing thought, it never hurts to have a little more than you need, especially if you plan on keeping it for a while. Narrow it down to 2 or 3 candidates and buy the one that pops up for the best price. Keep in mind that when the new...

    Zone 2 questions

i guess i meant that when comparing receivers based on listed specs- not downloading and reading set-up, etc in the manuals. sometimes it's easier to ask the question than search for the answer- a little lazy sometimes i guess. i've had this itch to get more involved and in depth with h/t, whole...

    Zone 2 questions

the only experience i've had with a second zone has been an a/b option for speakers on the receiver. none of the manufacturer propaganda really explains their zone 2 options very well. denon seems to be the only one who makes reference to actual available inputs for zones- but i had to dig. i'm...

    Zone 2 questions

I'm looking for information regarding zone two functionality/use. Does anybody offer an independent multisource powered zone 2 that can be used simultaneously with zone1- ie two separate sources? If no, are the analog zone2 pre-outs multisourced for all inputs, or just analog inputs?
