    Hitachi Tape Recorder TRQ-737

Good to know, and thanks for the info TLS Guy. I wish I'd known about the value of the tape, pretty sure there were several dozen tapes around as well but they've already ended up in landfill.

    Hitachi Tape Recorder TRQ-737

Hoping this is the correct place to post this, couldn't really find anything else that was relevant in the forums. I've recently inherited an Hitachi Tape Recorder TRQ-737, just wondering if this has any value at all or whether I should send it off to the landfill. Thanks!

    Home Theater Demo Disc

Well I'll be a monkey's uncle. I had no idea the disc was actually made by a forum member and that they'd provided all the info (plus more!) Thanks for the link, fuzz! Just at a glance, while I like that the new disc is significantly more compact, I prefer to have a wider selection of material...

    Home Theater Demo Disc

Anyone willing to do this at all? I realize it's a pretty big job, but I'm pretty sure there are more people out there than just me who either a) don't have a blu-ray burner or b) use a PS3 as their blu-ray player. If you are, please let me know so I can stop pestering the forum :) brad

    Home Theater Demo Disc

Ummm, holy crap - I had no idea a Blu-Ray burner could be found for so cheap! Maybe that's an idea for the future - still wouldn't help me in this situation though, since my PS3 won't read the original discs. I need to convert it into a format that's readable by a PS3, and I'm hoping a mountable...

    Home Theater Demo Disc

I'm going to ask everyone for a huge favour. I'm going to try to reproduce Reference Blu-Ray Demo v2 as a mountable disc image so those of us who do not have Blu-Ray burners (which, I would imagine, is most of us) will be able to use it via media server. Obviously I won't be able to make it...

    Home Theater Demo Disc

Yeah, that sounds like the files I have as part of the original - BDMV is the (oddly and confusingly titled) filename, not the extension/filetype. Not sure why that was chosen as the filename.

    Home Theater Demo Disc

I took a look through, and the only .bdmv files are the info files - not the actual media files. The main file is titled "BDMV" with no extension, but it shows up as a AVCHD file on my Mac. When I open it up and check the "Stream" folder, I find all the .mts media files which is typical of a...

    Home Theater Demo Disc

AVCHD should work fine with the PS3, the problem is that I wouldn't be able to use any menus and I have to choose individual files to play. This obviously isn't ideal. I'm wondering if there's a way to convert the AVCHD into a more conventional format that would still preserve the quality. Any...

    Home Theater Demo Disc

I actually have it hardwired, but my laptop usually isn't. I could easily plug in if needed, though. It would just be much simpler if I could just use a disc or USB key. I'll have to test it out to see if I can make it work.

    Home Theater Demo Disc

Hi Adam, Thanks for the reply. The file is a 40GB AVCHD file. It's possible I could use PMS (I actually use Universal Media Server, it's a fork of PMS that's significantly better), but since I'm trying to get best possible quality streaming isn't ideal. brad

    Home Theater Demo Disc

Well, after spending about a week downloading one of the discs (my connection is 100kB out here in the boonies) and spending several hours combing the internets, I've discovered that without actually burning the disc (I don't have a Bluray burner) there is no way for me to take full advantage of...

    Home Theater Demo Disc

Odd, I was sure I subscribed to the thread but I didn't receive a notification. I have a 64Gb key, so size isn't an issue. I'd love the link if it's available. brad

    Home Theater Demo Disc

Any chance this can be used with a USB key? I don't have access to a blu-ray burner and I'd really like to try this out. brad
