Is 'speaker protection mode' a heat problem or a Db/harshness issue, seems to me it triggers from sound. Most times it handles loud well, then out of the blue it gets scared it seems. ;) Got the fan for the Onkyo, That thing was always blazing hot. I am running 11.1, generally in Atmos or Auro 3D.

I have had a 4 fan set up on top of the receiver for some time now. It goes into "speaker protection mode", which I need to do a thread on.

Have had this for a couple weeks now and loving it. Have put a lot of m0vies through it already, and triggered 'protection mode' several times. Think I found the sweet spot now.

My new ( well factory refurb) DENON AVR - 6500H is on its way. Time to dust off my other pair of JBL36's that have been in the closet and figure out where to put them. This is replacing my dead Onkyo TX NR1107.

What kind of external power amplifier (pre-main amplifier) would it take to drive the 11.2 w/ the Yamaha rx a3080? and can the old Onkyo do it? thanks again. what about 7.2.2 vs 11.2 , bit confused on this

i need to try checking some of these. UPDATE - I plugged in my old Wii via the front AUX port (RCA) still nothing, would it be 'stuck' in a HDMI mode?

...as a side note, is the Onkyo still good for anything, besides anchor, door stop etc...?

I was never aware of such programs or problems. Purchased in 2010.
