HDMI 2.1 Chipset Bug in AV Receivers Causing Gaming Problems

My Pioneer SC-1526 crapped out in the spring so I've been using my HK AVR-325 with no HDMI until I can find a replacement. If only there was a way to get audio from a Chromecast to it. Now there aren't very many AVRs in stock. I guess I'm lucky?

Audioholics New Website Readying To Launch

Hi Gene. It's Windows 7 Enterprise at 1280x1024 resolution. I've attached a couple screen shots. These were captured without scrolling. Sorry if the pic size is too big.

Audioholics New Website Readying To Launch

Hi Gene. Just checking in after the holidays. One thing I noticed is that with the banner on the home page (where the different articles scroll across the screen), the differing height of the banner makes it hard to read what's below it.

    MP3 vs. CDs & FLAC

I've been using MP3s for years because when I started, FLAC wasn't around. Then, when it did come around, I couldn't find a program to adjust the volume between tracks, like MP3Gain that I use on MP3s. Does such a program exist these days? MP3Gain Edit: Looks like MetaFLAC can do this to FLAC...

Enter to Win: SB12-Plus from SVS – Canadian Residents Only

I have a 10" JBL sub in the front left corner about 30cm from each wall. It might be better more towards the center of the front wall, but my fp screen takes up too much space to allow it.

Are Monster HTS 1000 power bars any good?

I know Monster is generally overpriced, but I can get one for $80 CAD, when Best Buy sold them for $229 CAD. My set up is an HK325, Panny DVD-CP67, Bell Expressvu 9200 HD PVR & an HTPC. The TV is an Hitachi PJ-TX100 pj, but it's on it's own circuit.

Enter to Win: Roomate HTPC from VidaBox!

I built an htpc, but I purchased a satellite hd pvr a couple months later. The htpc works great running Media Portal, but my modded xbox already played back everything, so I should have held off the htpc until it could record hd material.

Composite Cables Instead Of Components Question

He's just asking if he can connect the component out of a device to the component in on his receiver using inexpensive video dubbing cables (i.e. red-white-yellow) instead of buying expensive component cables (i.e. red-green-blue), not whether he should use the composite output. If it works...

Enter to Win: PB10-NSD from SVS!

Placement can make a huge difference. I chose multiple subs as number two. I'll try to explain, but I can't remember the terminology. I think the output of one can fill in the dead spots of the other, which are created by the room's acoustics. Can anyone help with the proper terminology? :)

Enter to Win: Onix SP3 Tube Amp from AV123!

I'd use it in my main-floor living room where I currently use the sb amps of my HK325 to power in-ceiling Infinity speakers. I stream mp3s over my Xbox (in my basement along with my home theatre) using XBMC, so I'd move the Xbox into my living room & purchase a set of bookshelf speakers for...

Building a Home Theater PC: Why do I need a Soundcard?

The computer I'm going to be using has optical & coax digital out on the mobo (an MSI K7N2 Delta-L), but there's no digital-in on it or the Hauppauge 150MCE. Is it possible to record, or at least pass through the dolby digital signal from either a satellite receiver or a cable box? The OP...

Building a Home Theater PC: Why do I need a Soundcard?

I'm looking into building an HTPC also & have a question about audio. I'm going to hook it up to a satellite receiver that has optical & coax output, but the Hauppauge 150MCE only has analogue audio input. I don't imagine it's possible to record AC3, but I don't know of any soundcards that...

Enter to Win: PureLink $299 HDMI Switcher with Remote

    1. No, I didn't think HDMI was any better than DVI video. 2. I don't have any sources yet, but I have a Hitachi PJ-TX100 with a DVI input.

I like to see a bigger sub because I like to feel the bass.

Enter to Win: HDMI Cable from DVIGear

    1. For cables, I don't really think too much about return policy, since there are no moving parts. 2. I think 45 days after the order is shipped is a fair return window. That gives time for the item to arrive. 3. I think a 10-15% restocking fee is fair if the item returns with the packaging...

Enter to Win: Pair of x-ls Bookshelf Speakers from AV123!

At the moment, I'd prefer a dark cherry, or some other wood that has a reddish hue to it. I'm just tired of black, black, black, & a dark wood finish seems so 'upscale' to me.

    Sat->HK325->DVD recorder hookup quandry

I use the optical out of my sat receiver to feed my HK325. I have a Sanyo DVD recorder plugged into a video record loop. When I record shows of the sat, the sound is all 'watery' & the dialogue indistinct. If I run the analogue out from the sat to the recorder, the sound's fine. I assume...
