    Proper Sub Crossover?

Since your receiver is taking care of crossover duty the sub should be set to "pass through" if possible or the highest setting, otherwise you'll be doubling up on crossovers which will have a negative effect.

    Audio settings

The settings you're looking at are called "sample rate" and "bit depth" and put simply they are properties of how your computer deals with audio. It is not best to max these settings out, but let them match to the source. CD's and most commercial mp3s are 44.1 khz sample rate and 16 bits. If...

    Woofer What To Do?

I also see that you currently have 100 watts of amp per channel. Given that the speakers are rated for about that much power, it's likely that in your desire for more volume you were playing the amp past it's capabilities. Be cautious and listen for distortion as you increase the volume...

    Which 1995 Receiver Should I Buy - Kenwood KR-A5707 or Sony STR-D565?

The RX450 isn't an AVR, it's a stereo receiver. Looking at the manual I see no features that couldn't be controlled by buttons on the front....but remotes are nice.

HD Audio Not Working on the New HTPC

There were one or two feature additions that I got frustrated and dropped for weeks. I don't have any advice on adding the concerts separately though I will say that I'm not entirely sure it's possible to have it set up in the library that way.

Glad to help, this stuff gets a little easier as you go along.

HD Audio Not Working on the New HTPC

If you uncheck the HD audio option XBMC will decode it and send it as uncompressed audio over HDMI, zero quality loss. I'd guess this is what plex was doing anyway. As for getting it working, what options does it give you for "audio output devices" in settings->system->audio

Panasonic Plasma VT60 display clarity issues

The shimmering for me was gone by that point. I did find that reducing sharpness helped, but it wasn't the biggest factor.

HTPC Build Part 2: Putting it all together

fdisk is a windows command, openelec is linux. I believe you're looking for cfdisk, but I'm far from a linux guru. To get the drives set up nicely it may be a little easier to use a full linux live disk instead of openelec, that way you will have the advantage of having a fully functioning...

Panasonic Plasma VT60 display clarity issues

How many hours do you have on the display? My ST60 had some pretty bad "shimmering" for the first few days and it seemed to diminish. I still notice it a little bit sometimes, but only in certain situations.

HTPC Build Part 2: Putting it all together

Since it has no moving parts you could just let it sit on something. My ssd is literally hanging by its cables.

HTPC Build Part 1: The Stuff

An additional advantage to going with a memory card or usb stick is that it's easier to dual boot should you ever decide you want windows. If you set the boot order to USB before HDD you can boot to windows only if you pull the memory card out first.

Yes, I believe that to be the case.

HTPC Build Part 1: The Stuff

Their website is not very good but I managed to find this quote: "Since all meta information is preserved in MKV and compressed media data (video, audio, subtitles) is not changed in any way it is always possible to transcode MKV files into original format. For example, MKV files produced from a...

I didn't believe make mkv transcoded, doesn't it just put the video in an mkv container?

    My HTPC/Photo editing/Gaming/Everything setup!

I'm in a pretty strong minority on this one, but I don't think raid is a good idea for media setups. It provides redundancy which is great for uptime, but it's not a replacement for backups. With raid if your data gets corrupted in any way it's lost for good, offline backups can restore that for...
