Dumb question about adding a microphone to a receiver's input?

A receiver is something completely different from a pa.... Whether it is sufficient depends on the size of the event

    AB testing cables

Hi, I've been trying some new cables and would like to be able to A/B each of them. My receiver has an A and B connection. Is it possible to connect the wires to each and both to the speaker? Or will I be short circuiting my receiver or damage the speaker? Thanks!

    Help with room acoustics

Auch, thanks but that does kinda hurt... They did sound a lot better in the listening area with the carpets etc... And that site is a goldmine, will keep that in mind. I do have some trouble reading the graphs.

    Help with room acoustics

Hi, Recently I bought new speakers, type Sonus Faber Chameleon, and I'm having some trouble getting the acoustics right. The higher frequencies are accentuated a lot, very low frequencies seem to be there, which makes the sound lacking the warmth that I'm looking for. Basically the eq of what...

Need some assistance with system setup

I could have quoted your full response since it is kinda sweet :) Dave, he does make a point. I'm not sure what exactly didn't work properly after the professional set it up (except for your headphones), but generally connecting everything to your AVR and then to the TV is the way to go. Using...

Re-Ripping my CD's : what's with the audio level measurement?

I've recently used MusicBrainz Picard to find and add the appropriate meta data. Worked reasonably well. Furthermore I'm quite interested in differences in sound quality while using other rippers. Isn't it just creating a 1 on 1 digital copy?

320 bitrate vs FLAC (distinguishable differences)?

There's one other thing I'd add to the discussion, which is bass. Although I can agree with sounds outside the spectrum which are not audible bass is sometimes felt, not heard. The kick of a drum loses some of its dimension compared to live performances.

ceiling speakers for music listening ONLY...???

I'd get some decent bookshelves and position those nicely

320 bitrate vs FLAC (distinguishable differences)?

I believe that the differences are small anyways between 320 and FLAC. It depends on your own hearing plus (often not mentioned) use of the music. For example my brother is able to distinguish the compression on MP3. While that is an issue for him in the studio, it is much less so during regular...

question about my home theater setup

Ah. Ok, as far as I know the surround speakers shouldn't be a problem, but maybe you could just go and listen in a local store to the cm10 with the centre? I'm not familiar with the setup, but as I understood generally the characteristics of speakers within a brand should be similar enough for...

Just bought a fancy earphones - they seem sucky to me - why?

Jup I wouldn't fully trust the verge with any reviews before I checked them on some quality websites. Plus I'm hopping on the "do they actually fit " bandwagon. Good luck!

Does anyone else think the new Elac Concentro is absolutely hideous?

I've read that the finish can be customised according to your wishes. Carbon fibre and leather are among the options. But I agree this isn't the prettiest sight... Plus I have to agree with ShadyJ. The more expensive often doesn't necessarily mean better looking!

    Help choosing. Sonus Faber Chameleon?

Thanks! They have pointed me to a KEF speaker from the R series, I believe it was the R500. However I found them a little harsh compared to the Dali's, which I liked because the seemed to disappear a little more. The SB's are are on quite a discount too, saving 450 per set, otherwise they might...

    Help choosing. Sonus Faber Chameleon?

Hi all, I've been reading the forum for quite a while now and am looking for some advice regarding a speaker upgrade. I've been listening at multiple stores and came across the Sonus Faber Chameleon, which surprised me a little. I wasn't aware of the brand and am not able to find much info. I'd...

Yamaha RX-V1500: 4ohm speakers, different zone

Hey guys! I've bought my Yamaha RX-V1500 quite a few years ago (together with 5.1 kef 1000 egg speakers), but since I'm a poor student I've never been able to expand my set. Until today. I've got my hands on a 4ohm, full size, speaker set and I'm looking for the best way to connect them. I'm...
