Creating a single channel Quad 303 with a Pot

I must apologise, I did not see the last few comments in the previous thread, I clearly abandoned it too early for some reason. Which means this thread is fairly pointless. I will contact Quad again. If a Mod could delete this thread it would be pretty useful. It offers Zero information.

Creating a single channel Quad 303 with a Pot

I contacted Quad and they said that they won't do it, but would give me the instructions on how to. I have those instructions and it says I need a potentiometer a 5k Ohm one to be precise, but the instructions are rather lacking. If I do not think I am capable of doing it then I will not do it...

Creating a single channel Quad 303 with a Pot

That pointed me to what I needed. Nothing in there tells me how to actually use the potentiometer or any of that. All I found is how to adjust the pot in a circuit, but couldn't find anything relating to creating a parallel ciruit on an amp. I just really don't want to screw it up as I have been...

Creating a single channel Quad 303 with a Pot

Hi guys, First of all: I hope you all had a good christmas. Secondly: I need some help as I am pretty clueless when it comes to wiring electronics and such. I am looking to turn my 2-channel Quad 303 into a single channel 90W 4Ohm amplifier by hooking up both channels in parallel. I...

    Monoblocking Quad 303

I need to send one of them to have a channel repaired and have RCA ports put in, do you reckon they would set up the bridge for me? At an extra cost of course.

    Monoblocking Quad 303

Hi, sorry for the slow reply. Yes it has 2 output channels, I assume I will need to join both channels together. They are 6 ohm speakers...does that make it more complex?

    Monoblocking Quad 303

Hi all, I am purchasing another Quad 303 so that I have one for each speaker and I will need to monoblock them to do this. However, as I am a newbie, I have absolutely no idea how to monoblock a power amp, what I will need etc. My questions to you fine gentlemen are: Do I need...

Cheap, but still good power amp 120w pc @8ohm?

It is the specifics in which class D amp to choose that have put me off them if I'm honest. If I get the wrong one I am just stuck with nowhere to turn really. Especially as I intend on buying second hand gear, I read some good things about emotiva so that seems like a good place to start.

Cheap, but still good power amp 120w pc @8ohm?

From what I have heard/read (and feel free to correct me if I am wrong) but the majority of class D amps don't compare well to A or A/B amps although there are exceptions so I couldn't be bothered to take the risk. Also I don't mind the look of the peavey...bit "funky" looking for me...

Cheap, but still good power amp 120w pc @8ohm?

Just investigated, it's £52 shipping, doubt that drops all that much if I buy two...Might contemplate them as a backup, but they also won't arrive for 2 weeks and I am without an amp currently as my Quad 303 has to go have the right channel repaired.

Cheap, but still good power amp 120w pc @8ohm?

I live in the UK so shipping may turn out to be pretty high and yeah class D isn't worth it, I looked into getting a Quad 606 but they are just out of my price bracket if there are even any going second hand. Will have a look for either of these options in the UK. Anyone else in the UK with...

Cheap, but still good power amp 120w pc @8ohm?

I have a pair of Wharfedale Xarus 5000s, looking for a power amp in the <£250 range that can power them well, roughly 120w pc as my current Quad 303 doesn't drive them loud enough. I use a Marantz Nr1402 that I use as a power amp and have been looking at second hand amps on ebay and gumtree...

Right amp channel is muffled and hums.

It feels like a shame I can only thank you once for that post, the most helpful post I have seen relating to anything anywhere on any forum in any corner of the internet. Thanks again. I will try find some time to make the drive at some point, if not, some lucky courier will have to do it for me.

Right amp channel is muffled and hums.

Just checked out the cable, none of the pins are bent and it doesn't wobble or have trouble doing into the female connector, but the hum is also still produces without the input cable even attached. It still only does it out of one channel so I can safely assume it is the amp? Probably the most...

Right amp channel is muffled and hums.

Tried swapping the input on my receiver, that produces the same problem, same side. So it could be either the RCA>DIN cable itself or the actual DIN connector on the 404? Here's hoping it is the cable, but just in case it isn't where do I send the Quad to? and do I have to e-mail the first...

Right amp channel is muffled and hums.

Hi guys, sorry for the slow reply, I fell down the stairs and was unable to move my neck for a couple days, can move around now and have just tried your suggestion. The RCA cable is actually an RCA cable to 3.5mm Jack as it is being plugged into my pc from the receiver and then another RCA...

Right amp channel is muffled and hums.

Okay I will swap the RCA cable around and if it turns out that the amp has a bad channel, which seems likely to me. Any suggestions as to how to fix it?

Right amp channel is muffled and hums.

Hi, You guys have solved many problems of mine in the past so hopefully this will be no different. My setup is: 2x Wharfedale Diamond 10.1 Bookshelf speakers powered by a Quad 303 Amp, my marantz nr1402 serves as a pre-amp. The sound comes from my PC through a Creative Reckon Fatality...

Please help me pinpoint the problem

My receiver did recently go into protection mode and I had to send it back. I don't really understand what the quoted sentence means. What is the cap? Is this fault just a badly built speaker? Or is it something I might have done? I would just like to know before I bring it up with Wharfedale.

Please help me pinpoint the problem

I will do exactly that, tomorrow I will disassemble the other speaker and swap the drivers, then I can get in touch with wharfedale and let them know of the problem, this also means that the replacement driver is unnecessary and I can check the old one in the speaker that works. See if...
