HT Newbie - Advice for Sub please

Oh My F***ING GOD! Sorry I haven't popped in to write a proper review mates. It is still difficult for me to write a 'proper' review because frankly, I just don't care about all the little things like how it looks, its packaging, how much it weights, blah, blah. I also still haven't...

HT Newbie - Advice for Sub please

Yeah, actually if you remember I mentioned I produce as a hobby, so I already have an audio interface so I would need to buy is the mic and the stand.

Yeah, although that mic isn't very expensive, I have been told to chill on focusing only on the media room until some of the other parts of the house are in order. Kinda wished I hadn't bought that app. Maybe I will sneak it in somewhere along with some other purchase. Iwill start doing some...

Short update, I finally took off the grill, plugged a port and changed to 16 hz mode. I do think I will like this mode better but didn't listen much afterwards yet. After this though I did play around with lion king again. The receiver is managing bass properly. I think before I probably had...

HT Newbie - Advice for Sub please

Thanks again for the education. After the Australian Open is over, I am going to paint the room dark and at that point install the projector and screen. The only real option I have on placement is to turn it on its side and have it lie under the screen behind the stands for the center...

Another great post. That EQ looks pretty nice. Do you have any recommendations for an EQ I can use for the whole system? The manual EQ on the Onkyo is very limited, I think it is only a 7- or maybe 9-band EQ. Or is the Audyssey enough for the everything but the bass? Then again...

HT Newbie - Advice for Sub please

I just went through my discs, Avatar BD, Fight Club DVD, and Akira DVD. Avatar has no such menu option, and the only thing the two DVDs provide is a test to make sure you have your speakers wired properly. Anyway, I just bought the Audio Tools app by Six Digital for iPhone, so I want...

If I don't have a disc that has this, any recommendations?

I haven't measured my room yet, but I thought that was the point of the audyssey calibration.

HT Newbie - Advice for Sub please

This doesn't have much to do with the sub, so if I should make a new thread elsewhere, let me know. I am watching a blu-ray of Swan Lake ballet, and although it is quite loud, it seems like the room needs a bit more air for the sound to expand out in, maybe these are reflections? When I...

HT Newbie - Advice for Sub please

Received the subdude yesterday, but not sure about it yet. Anyway, critical listening and such will have to wait a bit as I am engaged in the Australian Open right now. Not a lot of bass in a tennis match!!! Stay tuned.

Yes, it isn't so expensive, especially in comparison to what I paid for the sub itself, so I will try! Should get it tomorrow, maybe Thursday.

Sub dude is an attempt to prevent or alleviate disturbing someone in the master directly beneath the media room.

Thanks for your post. I am not sure why you think I don't want to run my mains loud? The reason for turning up the crossovers is to let the sub do as much as it can for three reasons: save the receiver amp power on the mains for the rest of the frequency band, the sub should handle bass...

Got it. When looking on amazon to order the subdudes, I noticed they have a 30-piece set of 1 foot tiles from the same company. How would I know exactly how much of the wall I need to cover and where?

By the way, i am sure it wouldn't do much, but i am about to paint the room a dark color. Are there any paints that also have some sound treatment quality to them? Going to order the subdudes this week as well.

After rechecking the frequency graph on the svs website, it plays pretty well to 300 HZ! But it's pretty flat to 150, so i am going to change all speakers to 150, and i think i will also plug one port and change to 16hz mode. We will see how it goes.

I did a little reading on how to do a proper audyssey calibration and redid it. I then hooked up the cheap DVD player. After quite a bit of messing around, it now sounds the way you described. I ended up turning all speakers to 200 HZ, then boosted the bass on the main speakers to +10. Also...

HT Newbie - Advice for Sub please

Yeah, I do appreciate the help. I would have noticed sooner or later. Already did with Lion King, but I figured it was probably due to its age. I did buy a cheap DVD player when I returned to the US last summer. I will have to hook it up to make sure. By the way, on your comment about...

I wonder if I should just go grab a copy of Matrix on blu ray and test that way. I don't really have any intention of watching DVDs through my computer anyway.
