    Room Setup Suggestions

I am moving to a new house and am planning my HT room. The room is 11.5' wide by 19' long with 9' ceilings. Facing front, the left wall has a door at 8' and the right wall opens in to the dining room at 102" (8'6"). If I aligned the back of the couch with the door that will give me about 7'...

    How to choose a receiver?

Sorry to resurrect on old thread, but with holiday deals happening I just wanted a couple of opinions. I am looking for a receiver that I can use for a 5.2 setup, and have been told to make sure that you can individual adjust the sub-woofer EQ. Looking around I found my cheapest options to be...

DIY Full Range Single Driver vs Retail Speaker

So the claims of this company are not only can their drivers produce better sound but when you use an 8", 10", or even 15" full range driver that you wont need a sub as well. my question to them was, if full range single driver are so superior, why are they not mainstream? Why are people still...

DIY Full Range Single Driver vs Retail Speaker

In my search for new speakers, I've come across full range drivers, namely Fostex and Audio Nirvana. Supposedly these full range drivers have amazing detail and imagery. Has anyone used or are familiar this these? Will I get better sound reproduction making my own cabinet with one of these...

    How to choose a receiver?

According to Audyssey's website the only recievers with SubEQ are more than 2x my $1000 price range. I saw the Yammy at newegg for $1000, but I couldn't see where it has dual discete sub outputs, and obviously it has the YPAO instead of the Audyssey. So is this my choice in this price range?

    Paradigm S6v3/Revel F52/PSB Synchrony One

I was wondering if I could get more info about this. I'll admit that I don't understand a lot of measurement discussion, it's gone over my head, but if it's true that the digms are built better and are more accurate, then that will help with my decision. In one of the reviews I've read the...

    How to choose a receiver?

So I've been trying to see if the receivers I am looking at actually say dual discrete sub outputs, and I can't find where that is listed. The main receivers I am looking at are: Denon AVR 3312CI Yamaha RX-A3000 Marantz SR6006 or SR7005 Does anyone know off hand if these are stereo or...

    Paradigm S6v3/Revel F52/PSB Synchrony One

Of the three I think the Revels look the worst. :( With the Synchrony having a rear port versus the the 'digms having a front port will that make much of a difference?

    Paradigm S6v3/Revel F52/PSB Synchrony One

These are my 3 finalists for my front towers. I've been able to find deals that I can get a pair on any of them for under $4k. I am looking for towers that aren't too picking about placement and have a wide soundstage, so if there are more than 1 or 2 people there they don't all have to sit in...

    How to choose a receiver?

Thanks agarwalro for your response. that helps. Is this something that is listed in the specs and can be trusted in their measurements? If not, is there a good site that has these specs for recievere/processors? If it lists 7.2 preouts, is that the same as having dual discrete sub...

    How to choose a receiver?

So been planning my new system for while now and getting some great advice from the people here. Still having difficulty with choosing the receiver though. The advice has been to spend as little as possible on a receiver that has the options you want, because the receiver is the one piece that...

    Xmc-1?

Thanks for the suggestion. It looks like I can get the SR6005 for $600, SR6006 for $1000, and SR7005 open box with full warranty for $1200. Using the pre-outs I obvioulsy don't need the extra watts per channel, but other than the Airplay, any other reason to go with a higher model?

    Xmc-1?

The Marantz looks like an awesome processor, the problem is it's 3x as much. Since I've been on the forum, I've realived that the only piece of equipment that really needs upgrading is the processor. I good amp, speakers, and subwoofer will last decades, whereas a processor may need to be...

    Xmc-1?

Well, I'm going to be starting with a 2.1 setup. I am in the process of auditioning and deciding between the Paradigm S6v3, Synchrony Ones, and the Philharmonic 3s. I will probably combine them with a Rhythmic sub, and start from there. I eventually will have a 5.2 setup but want to spend as...

    Xmc-1?

That's funny, I saw posts that you get 40% off when you upgrade, and when I emailed them about the release of the XMC-1 and to confirm the upgrade policy, I got an email back with 24 hours.

    Xmc-1?

With your experience with the UMC-1 would you say it's worth the $500? If you manually set the crossovers and bass management will that alleviate some of the headache?

    Xmc-1?

looking for a processor or reciever to go with my XPA-5. I know people have had some issues with the UMC-1, but with the XMC-1 coming out in the beginning of 2112 for $999 I was wondering if anyone had any info on this processor. Right now the UMC-1 is on sale for $500 and with their upgrade...
