First time post: 10 years into my audio collection, I need direction...

+1 to this. Most quality sub will offer some sort of crossover function when using the high pass inputs. Some are fixed and some are variable.

Total newbie wants audio in toolbox

Can you get us some pictures so we can have a better idea of what where working with. That might open things up to better options.

    Turntable Advice

U Turn Audio Orbit - I picked one up a few months ago and it's a great table. I can't compare it to anything but it sounds quite good in the Basic form that I have. They have killer customer service and the Orbit is American made with parts sourced in the US as well. Only exceptions are some of...

New Sony SS-CS5 Bookshelf Speakers at Best Buy

I own the BS41's and think the Sony's sound much better. Very underrated speakers IMO. The Pioneers while very good are not nearly as good as the hype. I would much rather have some old Boston A series speakers or pretty much any ADS speaker if I was on a tight speaker budget.

Current receiver overheating, do I need an amp?

It should be noted that some of the Russound amplifiers are made by Audiosource. It look's to be primarily the 2 channel amps though.

Energy or How mighty have fallen

Everything designed under Klipsch is garbage. This includes the CB/CF models listed above which where not designed by Energy. They are Klipsch designed speakers with an Energy badge. They are just fair sounding in my book. I own CB5's and can only use them for surround duty. They sound pretty...

    PSB Owners Thread

That was really cool to look at. Thanks. I would love to hear some of the early designs. I bet they sound impressive. I have owned a couple sets of PSB speakers and they all sounded great.

Yamaha RS-300 Overheats / Shuts Off

Another Update (I know it's been over a year.;)) Not Sure if anybody cares but this amp did act up again and shut down randomly. In the end my lazy ass never took it in for warranty service and picked up a Yamaha A-S500 integrated on sale. I have been happy ever since then. About a month or so...

    Bookshelf Speaker Shootout

The MSRP listed for the Energy RC-10 is wrong. These speakers sold for 549-649 a pair when introduced. I do understand the Energy web site lists these as 599.00 each. But that is not correct and should be listed as a pair. If one goes to this Sound Stage review from February 2006 the price is...

    Passive Subwoofer - Receiver

markw is correct. The money spent on sub amp would garner you a better powered sub. This Dayton sub I list below would be a much better route. The Dayton offers more output and extension. http://www.parts-express.com/dayton-audio-sub-1200-12-120-watt-powered-subwoofer--300-629

    Large Theater

I agree with the above as well. You really need commercial cinema speakers. You might want to also look at QSC, and Klipsch.

The RSL Sub Sat System Speaker System Delivers Big Sound with a Small Footprint

This review does not surprise me at all. I have very fond memories spending time in a couple of RSL stores. All of the RSL speakers where impressive. Especially the CG series. Which is what these speakers seem to be based on. I hope I get a chance to hear these some day.

    Yamaha RX-A2040 or Denon AVR-X4100W

Room acoustics are probably the biggest problem for the OP. I'm surprised no one has mentioned this. The speakers and the room they are placed in dictate 90% of what you hear. If you don't like the sound change the room acoustics and speaker placement. If this does not solve the problem change...

Speakers advice needed - Bose 501 Series IV

My Dad owned a pair and I have spent many hours with these. The grills are a pain to remove and not meant to be for the most part. Sounds like the foam on the woofers is rotted. If the woofers are not damaged it should not cost that much to repair. They also sound better than many of the other...

Bookshelves for my new A-S500. $400.00 (or less) budget. Please share your thoughts

It should be noted that the Diamond 10.1's do not look that pretty on the inside. The insulation is just stuffed in and the crossover is vertical above the binding posts. As to whether this effects the sound is another story. There still good speakers. The photo is just a little misleading as it...

    25ft Digital Connection

Thanks. I used a ten foot optical cable for several years with no issue. I might just give optical a try since shielding is a non issue.

    25ft Digital Connection

I have read optical can have issues with higher resolution 24/96/192 files over longer distances so I decided to try coax with good shielding. It seemed to be the most common. If I have issues I can try optical. Thanks for the input.

    Bose Acoustimass 10 Series V

Absolutely. Look at what kind of audio equipment is in most homes. It's cheap HTIB's and blue tooth speakers. I listed 5 companies with similar products yet you don't want to research this and look into these companies and the products they sell. I I'm done. Go troll somewhere else.

    Bose Acoustimass 10 Series V

==================================== Now I know. "Nebulous imaging & lamentable bass module" - the imaging of acoustimass is quite excellent for me and the bass module give a very low frequencies too. I admit this is very subjective. But now, can you name me a brand and model you are...
