    HSU VTF-15H Subwoofer Review

Paul and Gene, I really feel that you guys went above and beyond for the sake of audio buffs everywhere. I really appreciate it. The additional review and measurements were in depth and anything but defensive. I have such a hard time with the comments that are questioning the accurate...

    Paradigm Studio Series

Get a sub 12 from 6ave quick before they are gone. $1200 is a good deal for one. 6 ave electronics. It's a great sub.

    Audioholics Ultimate Subwoofer Shootout Planned

Poor Nathan. I assume this was pushed ahead of the FW review? Or, you are just going to release both at once?

FunkyWaves; for uncompromising men, the coolest of women, and Canadians.

Oh dear! That is sharp looking. Should sound pretty sharp too. Same dimensions as on his site for the 18.0w? How low will it go in that box? Also, what kind of SPL can be expected? Weight? 120lbs? Very jealous. The rounded corners really do it for me.

Looking forward to the review. Nice box Warp, love that shape.

Getting a paradigm sub12 later today.

The replacement amp is on the way. Hopefully quick so I can enjoy my dual subs again. Going to start drawing up the plans for the basement theater over the next year. Next winter should see the start of buying and building. Got a bunch more reading to do still. There are 1001 different ways to...

Getting a paradigm sub12 later today.

There was no clipping boys. Sorry. When I tried the receiver, it clipped and shut down. The xpa-2 is fine. The Radio Shack SPL meter is what I was talking about. 5-6 times a year is about all I test stuff to those levels. The room is small with one open corner. Sorry I don't listen at 75 dB...

Is The Def Tech Trinity Good For Music

In my experience it is boxes that vibrate and noisy ports that add in unwanted noise that can sound off on music. The settings on the sub and it's placement in the room dictate if it can blend nicely with the speakers. Almost any sub should be able to get a decent blend and not draw attention to...

Getting a paradigm sub12 later today.

Just spoke with the installer and a new amp is on the way. My luck...

Getting a paradigm sub12 later today.

I remember a wild dip just after 200hz, so not sure what it was. I just remember the gentle slope from 20 hz all the way to 200 basically. Thanks to all who made suggestions, it is appreciated. Getting the best out of what you have is key to continued enjoyment. I hope the sub that gave up...

Getting a paradigm sub12 later today.

I finally got around to actually cranking it up today. Regardless of your appreciated input which I just read, I did switch the x-over twice today. I did it because when it gets rocking, the Emotiva draws a bunch of amps to play the 100's. Before, no issue as the line never sagged below 120v...

Getting a paradigm sub12 later today.

I was playing with that yesterday. Had it at 50 for music, but went with 100 for music DVD's and movies. CC doesn't like 50hz x-over, and with this elite receiver, I can't set the fronts different from the mains. I'm just tickled the room is great for bass, and the PBK graphs both looked good...

Getting a paradigm sub12 later today.

Well, the pics are crap, I'll take more later. I was in a hurry, wanted to crank it up!! The subs are ridiculous. The blend on music with the 100's is amazing, and for HT they absolutely dominate the room, without any rattles. I'm going to get the guys to e-mail me the graphs, they were...

    HSU VTF-15H Subwoofer Review

Wow, great review that really stirred things up. I think the review just puts it all in perspective; no free lunch. It sounds like the sub is a great value. If you own the sub, why do you care? As for returning the sub without even listening to it, I hope there was a lot of alcohol involved...

Paradigm unleashes a little monster of a sub.

As I have learned of late, matching the enclosure and amplifier to the driver is most important, not just bigger is better. Also, it depends on what you want. Like I said, I really am happy with 20hz extension, as I can't hear any lower, and that low of frequency gives me plenty of tactile...

Paradigm unleashes a little monster of a sub.

I found a VeLodyne mini-vee tested by the same guy in the same manner. It had 2.4 dB more output at 31.5hz, but at about 5 times the distortion. It costs half as much as the Paradigm. The Pc-13 ultra measured better than the 110 by about 2% at 20hz when reading from the top ports. This is...

Paradigm unleashes a little monster of a sub.

Still confused. What are we reading into the data that he didn't disclose? I've seen tests where the distortion was almost 13%. He claims 8% distortion, which is a lot. The harmonic first harmonic is about 22dB less than the peak on the fundamental. The secrets test of the pb-12 plus shows...

Paradigm unleashes a little monster of a sub.

I'm not sure they would fudge the numbers, but who knows. I was surprised by how much power it had for a little box, but I heard a sunfire years ago with their small box magic subs, and it just didn't sound the same. Not sure where to find impartial reviews. Maybe guys like Ilka, certainly not...

Paradigm unleashes a little monster of a sub.

Confused. Test data says 100db. In the middle of the room seems pretty good. This review seems to be more favorable than my experience. When I compared it to the sub 12, it seemed less powerful, but mostly less impact at the leading edge. The sub 12 seemed a lot more controlled. Having double...

    HSU - VTF-15H - Holy Freakin Moly

20% larger, with 47% of the power. I think the ported alignment offers more of a hint at an output advantage. As long as my buddy gets one of these, we are going to do a comparison in the future. I expect the 15" ported box to win in output, but at what compromises if any.
