    7.1 to 5.1

Well...I have no "behind" in my setup plans...so rears are probably out of the question. If someone told me I'd lose out on possible 2 channels worth of audio material I'd maybe consider moving my room around...but if it gets re-routed I'm cool with it. I agree though - I do really like the...

Sub in the $300 Range - Needed Today (HELP!)

I'm hoping I will be happy w/ my $300 purchase. It's a gamble really. I am really looking into the PB1000 a little down the road when I've got my basement theater done though - that should sound heavenly.

Good ... I do want the whole deal.

Awesome thanks. That answers 66% of my questions. Mr Garcia - you are my favorite person on this forum you know right?

    7.1 to 5.1

To respond to the obvious easy fix - shifting the room 90 degrees clockwise and doing it the long way like an actual theater... I just can't. Had it that way for a while and I want more of a hang-out area with kickass theater capabilities rather than a 3-4 seat dedicated theater.

    7.1 to 5.1

So first off...The Hobbit sounds great. Love native lossless 7.1 movies. Ok...so assuming and hoping Hollywood goes this direction, I'm curious as to this scenario as it relates to my basement. I have an "almost" properly set up 7.1 in my great room. For my new basement theater though I'm...

Sub in the $300 Range - Needed Today (HELP!)

Before my infinity died we were constantly fidgeting with the volume though as at night we ran it maybe 15% vs 40% for music and 60% for movies. If there were a knob on front that'd be fine, but in the back it was just annoying. Seems like this is a good fix. That said...liiiiiiiittle bit...

Sub in the $300 Range - Needed Today (HELP!)

Going to re-measure my spaces tonight. I'm thinking I'll get a Klipsch if it'll fit. The Cadence looked great but I think I'm in need of pure wattage with an area as big as mine. I'm surprised I've seen very little comments on the digital presets for that sub though. I'm not usually a bells n...

Sub in the $300 Range - Needed Today (HELP!)

Ok, taking some advice I've decided to up my budget a tad. 2 CSX 12 mkiis would run $600. The nice part about using a pair is it'd help me even out sound coverage. The master/slave feature looks good. I also don't have tons of space for a whopper sub, but have two great corner spots for smaller...

Sub in the $300 Range - Needed Today (HELP!)

Well...I will eventually have BOTH systems up and running. Whatever I purchase here will stay in this room. In 6-12 months when I'm done w/ the basement theater I plan on doing a little less budget shopping and buying a little more of what actually fits the room and listener requirements

Sub in the $300 Range - Needed Today (HELP!)

And can someone comment on the SVS having only a 10" speaker? Seems odd to me, but I suppose I'm a musician too and it seems odd that guitar speakers are almost always 12 where bass are 10 or 15.

Sub in the $300 Range - Needed Today (HELP!)

*Also keeping in mind I'm not planning on upgrading the Infinity Satellites in that room. On one hand I'm thinking "gosh...is it worth it to spend extra on speakers that aren't stunning?". On the other I realize I'll have this for a number of years and the bass is probably the more important...

Sub in the $300 Range - Needed Today (HELP!)

I've got it narrowed down to 4 subs. I'll take (graciously of course) any input you've got as the Rythmik sale expires tonight. Keep in mind I'm on a budget w/out wanting to skimp. Any of these subs will do better than the Infinity that came with my boxed set. If ya say go big or go home...I'm...

Sub in the $300 Range - Needed Today (HELP!)

Ok, ok...as luck would have it I sold some stuff (as quoted by Lloyd Christmas in Dumb and Dumber) and gotten myself a little extra cash. While this could perpetually continue to be a "well...for $50 more you could get the..." conversation, what would $400-$450 get me? I had read a while back...

Sub in the $300 Range - Needed Today (HELP!)

I work in IT and tend to compare everything to cars. I tell everyone the computers they have are '84 Buick Regals.

Sub in the $300 Range - Needed Today (HELP!)

I'm realize I'm not going to get a Caddy or maybe even a new Ford Focus...but having a golf cart or even a bike is better than walking. $300 will fill at least some of the lower register void. The Sub that came with the Infinity set was a 250 watt 12" and other than the fact it blew up like...

Sub in the $300 Range - Needed Today (HELP!)

Here's my plight. It's also posted at avs. Sue me, but I needed some feedback today. My great room sub is out and I'm entertaining later this week. Tax refund on the way and if I'm to pick up a Klipsch, the sale "ends" today (although I'm sure it'll come back at some point). The bottom line is...

Cooling Fan Question / AV Gear in a tight rack

Hey folks, I have a Sony ES 7.1 Receiver that I'm putting into custom shelving (and a Blur Ray, HD Cable box, etc) I built into the side of my fireplace. Out of necessity we built the shelves just barely past the sides of the equipment. The distance vertically is adjustable, but I'm still...

Newb looking for some help - Multi-zone amp

Hey there... I'm an IT/AV director, so I'm only a newb in the sense that there are a few things I haven't had the pleasure of purchasing in the last 7 years in the field. I wired my house pretty amazingly I'd say...and now would like to send a single audio source (probably just the zone 2...
