    Panasonic Thrusters!

What do you guys think of these classics? lol I have two Model SB-1800 with the passive radiator and they claim high efficiency. Well, it's true. I put them in my pickup and powered them with just a regualr sony xplod 52x4 head unit (around 15 watts a channel) and had them hooked as the rears...

Could it be more obvious that 5.1 is not the end all?

I'm talking about more discrete channels not multiple speakers per channel I'm not talking about adding a bunch of speakers. that would still be 5.1 duhhh. I'm talking about more channels.

Could it be more obvious that 5.1 is not the end all?

Could it be more obvious that 5.1 is not the end all?

How was it hard to convert to 5.1? And as far as software capabilities it should be nothing at all. And wait; did the thing under my name just change? Does that just go by number of posts? I thought it said audiophyte or something like that before.

    Comb filtering and loudspeaker interference

With small surround setups is comb filtering or any other type of interference known to exist between the speakers? I know one of the reasons people argued against using surround arrays in anything but a large theater was that speakers that close would not work well. But they would be no closer...

Could it be more obvious that 5.1 is not the end all?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RCA_Dimensia Haha I wondered when one of my RCA Dimensia screen names would catch someone's attention; lol any RCA Dimensia account you see is basically me. It was a television system that debuted in 1984. I wrote this article on it...

Could it be more obvious that 5.1 is not the end all?

A ceiling channel was used once well there was one system used for a single movie a few years back that used a single channel and speaker mounted directly on the roof pointing straight down, but it was just for one movie in select theaters. It was called Sonic Whole Overhead Sound, used by...

Could it be more obvious that 5.1 is not the end all?

It seems like people have gotten attached to 5.1 and are generally unaccepting of new formats. It seems almost anything over 5.1 is all matrixed, or there is very little source material for it and it's the least necessry channels (rear) that are added. I was researching the history of 5.1...

How well are the outdoors acoustically?

How much does that cost; it doesn't really seem to say. Didn't Danley make the Matterhorn? Yes, they did.

How well are the outdoors acoustically?

So the outdoors are better, then, than even a well acoustically treated room? *not accustomed to the sound outside; is that because we're so used to the reflective and, actually worse, sound inside that we think it's right? but in reality sound is better in an open area.

How well are the outdoors acoustically?

Shouldn't an empty plain theoretically be optimal? No reflections? Or how about, in my case, a large area enclosed on three sides by three barns but with no ceiling of course (the sky) and no building in the back (only fields)?

Dialogue/vocals completely absent from center channel

LOL that receiver has PL1, Dolby Digital for movies (in the DVD drive), and Dolby 3 stereo. It's a low end receiver. It has different listening options for each- phantom, wide, etc. It's interesting becuase it's a six channel setup-Dolby Digital, and it uses all five in PL1 decoding mode, but...

Dialogue/vocals completely absent from center channel

It surprised me because I had just switched from the reciever's DVD player to my laptop and was anticipating what some older songs would translate to in Pro Logic 1. And obviously when the vocals came in from all directions it was like "super-surround-y", almost like an exaggerated effect that...

Dialogue/vocals completely absent from center channel

I was messing around setting up my home theater for summer (it's in my barn-we call it the Barn Theater), and i was listening to music when a Beatles song came on. Now if you have any experience with Beatles music (and 1960s music in general) you will realize that they are usually panned hard...
