Those of us who don't require every HDMI port to be the latest spec aren't going to be concerned about it. Your whining isn't going to result in Sony cancelling these models and replacing them with ones you approve. Spend your time looking elsewhere.

Wow. I don't think he cares what you consider good enough. He's looking for a solution for his dad, and stated what he was looking for. Perfectly acceptable to run HDMI to TV and optical/coax digital to receiver, even these days. If all you are interested in is DD and DTS that is all you need.

Gene, were you able to try the YPAO low frequency mode? I am still unsure if it is completely automatic, or if manual measurement with REW is still needed after running YPAO low freq mode.
