Budget 5.0 Speaker Set for HT?

I just picked up a pair of Yamaha NS-333s for nothing at a thrift store. I have a hodge-podge of speakers I rotate; ACI Sapphires, Jaguar 2000, NHT SuperZero, ADS L400, NHT SuperZero, AR28b, MartinLogan Motion 4, Advent 3s, CSW Abiance, CSW Ensembles w/8" woofers, Paradigm 5 v.1 and...

Looking for a sub for my Audioengine A5+

I use the Audioengine A5's as well for my computer set up with the Audioengine DAC. For a couple of years I used the Outlaw M1 (essentially a Hsu STF1 I believe), its nice and enjoyable. I now use an Infinity Classia PSW310, a 10" sub. At its MSRP of $1200 I'd never give it a second look but...

    Outlaw 978 scrapped

The Outlaw email said it was a B&M based sales company and clearly stated it was not an internet direct company. Besides, I'm not sure if Emotiva would have anywhere near that kind of clout. I'm thinking that saying "a North American" based company instead of a U.S. based one diplomatically...

    Outlaw 978 scrapped

D&m owns Denon, Marantz, BostonAcoustics and McIntosh but I don't think they own NAD. Like I just posted in AVS they (NAD) are based in Ontario, use Audyssey, have been in China for years and have the clout although I've since found out Anthem is part of Paradigm & Martin-Logan. So I guess...

    Why the Axiom bashing??

No kidding. Maybe what--a year or two ago--they were written about as one of the best things going at their price point. One online review said the M80s were comparable in some ways to my beloved (and generally well-liked) ACI Sapphires. This year the peasants are at the gate with pitchforks and...

UPDATED: Mark L. Schifter, PLEADS GUILTY to suspicion of charity fraud

Just out of curiosity was there ever postscript to this story or did he just disappear?

Not even General's can speak their mind

McChrystal didn't mean U.S. troops, he included Afghan National Army soldiers in the equation. The writer doesn't believe that the increase in Afghanistani soldiers will happen; they already number over 110,000 and part of the increase in U.S. presence are instructors and training resources...

    Looking for a cheap-o receiver

a4less is a great place. I used eCost with no problems a few years back for a couple of things at a good price. One warning though, their Pioneer Elite stuff--at least at the time--wasn't covered by Elite's warranty as I found out.

Happy National Soccer Fan Poserfest Day...

A lot of hype about how Africa is cheering for Ghana but do they really care for them any more than Italians care that The Netherlands or Bolivians that Uruguay are still in the running?

Not even General's can speak their mind

I spent my career in the Army, most of it in the Special Ops community. I'll tell you right now that most of those who come under a 'sizable amount' and are opposed to it aren't experts at counter-insurgency. You'll always hear--and I spent a career dealing with this--grunts, squad or...

Not even General's can speak their mind

Looks like his boss is replacing him (Petraeus). Considering Petraeus is the guru of modern U.S. counter-insurgency strategy--he and Mattis of the USMC oversaw the new field manual on it--and his work in Iraq he's about as good as we could hope for. McChrystal's media guy was nuts to allow a...
