    RIP panny plasmas...

Update to my broken Panasonic: They had someone come out on Jan 2nd to diagnose what was wrong with it. They also had to find out what part number they needed to order, since I guess the 55 uses a different SD board than the 60 and 65's They received the part on the 9th and made an...

Did you know that most Americans still own a VCR?

Never owned a VCR (DVD's were prevalent by the time I had enough money to buy one) but I still use checks. Main instance is for my garbage and water because those services charge you money to pay online where I live.

    Oh Boy

I saw the same thread on AVS and cringed. Hopefully he dials it back some (6 way?!?) and goes with a more established design so he doesn't get discouraged with his results on how he's proceeding currently. He certainly seems to be able to handle the cabinet work side of speaker...

Quick update. Talked to someone with Panasonic today. They are sending someone to look at it next Monday. So, back to the 32" LCD for another week...

I sent their customer service department an email late last night. Hope to hear back from them early this week. Will let everyone know how it shakes out.

    RIP panny plasmas...

Finally got the one I purchased in early December setup today. Lasted all of about 3 hrs before it went into protection mode. 7 blinking lights. Not good. :(

    Any Holiday Sales Thread

The 55" version: TC-P55VT60 Should fit my stand w/o issue and right in the range of how much I wanted to spend. They're having some problems with my card, so I'll have to see if I can get that sorted out with my bank account. Curse you spending limits!!

    Denon AVR-33xx/43xx quality issues?

Search my username for threads I've started. One of them is about my 4311 refurb that was pretty much broken out of the box. It has since been fixed, but still acts weird from time to time. I would buy another 4311, but not a refurb version.

How much power is needed to move 3 7" woofers

+1. This is what a dedicated subwoofer is for, and for the amount of money you're looking to drop on amps, you should be able to find a pretty good sub.

Question about Polk Audio speakers, and sound at 22,000 hertz.

Thanks for that link... lots of neat stuff on there. I'm good to 17-18kHz (32 and not too much mileage on my ears)

Sensitive speakers that can do it all?

Just goes to prove two things to me: Trying to beat Hoffman's Iron Law requires a lot of zeros in the bank account. Given the advancements in bass management technology, it makes a lot more sense to trade bass extension for speaker sensitivity. Why have your mains go as deep as possible when...

3 amps to choose from. I need more drive for Rock/Metal! Which amp should I get?

If you're wondering about sonic characteristics of amps, you're asking on the wrong site. Most of us don't buy into that sort of nonsense.

    PBC's SVSound SB13-Ultra User Review!

It means when you run Audyssey, you should shoot for the subwoofer level to be right around zero, with a bit more leeway on the - dB side. I generally shoot for between -2 to +1. So, if you get a trim level of -12 dB, your AVR is trying to cut the level of your sub pretty severely. In this...

Tekton Enzo - The most inexpensive speakers that is in the league with high-end speaker

To be fair, the subwoofer he picked and using Blue Jeans cables are fine. The rug is neither here nor there.

Tekton Enzo - The most inexpensive speakers that is in the league with high-end speaker

If you were smart, you'd forget about the $200 speaker cables and Mundof caps and get a better receiver (one with decent room correction). I'll leave my opinions on Tekton speakers out of it though.

    Surround Sound Opinions

At my last residence, I did have 5 channels of surround sound. Going up to 7 would have been tricky in terms of speaker placement (didn't want to put in wall mounts in an apartment). I've just moved, so everything is in flux with my gear. I have a 20x14x8 room downstairs that I intend to set...
