    Actual Subwoofer power consumption

Thanks for the replies. I have a Denon 4806CI and the sub plugged into an APC s15 which should only be able to put out 900 watts. Reference level was done by auto-setup and I had the denon at -20dB. I used 50 cents in the club for testing. I tried minimum and maximum levels on the sub with the...

    Actual Subwoofer power consumption

Does anyone know how much power a subwoofer is really supposed to draw at the wall compared to how it is rated? I have a Klipsch KA-1000-THX that is supposed to be 1500W AC but in use only pulls 30W from the power source. Is this normal or should I get this replaced?

    Denon AVR-4806 Discontinued?

That is incorrect this unit scales all signals to 1080p if desired. Not much use for me since my projector is 720p but keeps things a little future proof in case i find a 1080p projector that does more than 800 lumens and isn't priced like a car.

Why is TRUE 1080p so hard to come by?

I myself had been waiting for the samsung 4696 or 5797 but yesterday my installer updated me that Samsung had recalled these models and cancelled pending distributor orders. Something about chips failing after a few days. Hopefully the sony bravia 1080p tvs actually make it to the retail market.

    1280x768 plasmas

Do these sets have rectangular pixels to have a 16:9 viewable image or do they have square pixels and an actual image aspect ratio of 15:9? Am interested in getting the pioneer 1130HD but I don't want a panel with non-square pixels--it is just too big of a pain when trying to use a computer.

    Perfect Geometry for projector

Thanks for the replies. This saves me from spending several more hours of fine tuning. The image actually looks great. The only reason I noted the geometry imperfection was the fact that it was on the right side where most web page scrollbars are. When watching movies and playing xbox 360 it's...

    Perfect Geometry for projector

Is it possible to get perfect geometry with a ceiling mounted projector and a wall mounted screen? Are professional installers supposed to be able to get all four corners of the image to match your chosen screen? Am I asking the installer too much if want the geometry to be like that of a flat...

    Panasonic PT-AE900U Projector Review

Thanks for the reply. As far as general installation is concerned, given the wide range of throw distances for a given screen size, is it better to mount this projector closer to the screen or as far back as possible, or does it not make a difference? Basement is still unfinished so this is my...

    Panasonic PT-AE900U Projector Review

can somebody please do a head to head with this projector and the yamaha DPX-1300? I don't want to spend an extra $7000 if I'm not getting that much more in terms of image quality.

Watch 1080p now before HD-DVD or Bluray

For those owners of 1080p sets that accept native 1080p who are twiddling their thumbs until Bluray or HD-DVD arrives why not take advantage of a new feature that Nvidia has finally released for their high end graphics cards : with driver 84.43 * Added SLI profile for Tomb Raider: Legend...

    native resolution and 1080i?

I personally think that the resolution of 1366x768 or 1365x768 are idiotic resolutions. These are not true 16x9 resolutions with square pixels which is what 1280x720 and 1920x1080 are. 1280x720 content will always look best on a 1280x720 display and a 1920x1080 image will look best on a...

    1080p Plasma should I wait?

I seriously doubt that the PS3 will output worthwhile images at 1920x1080p 60 fps. The xbox 360 already has trouble maintaining 60 fps with quake 4 at 1280x720. I seriously doubt that the PS3 has double the horsepower of the xbox 360. Even current beefed up SLI gaming PCs have trouble cranking...

    All these beautiful displays

From the way they describe it on their website Plush1080p sounds like a brute force deinterlacing algorithm. It may still result in a good picture but it doesn't reconstruct the original 24 movie fps like proper inverse telecine does. On the other hand, I noticed that the 82 inch 1080p supports...

    All these beautiful displays

The problem with this approach is that it will only work if the display natively accepts 1080p (60 fps) without converting to 1080i and then reconverting to 1080p for display. Very few televisions accept native 1080p input right now. A number of 24 to 30 inch widescreen computer monitors do though.

    All these beautiful displays

Actually I used to be a fan of sticking it out with 720p as well until I realized that current 1080i (30 fps) broadcasts of film based material can be processed to extract the actual 24 frames per second of progressive data. If you want to know how HD-DVD or Bluray will look then all you really...

    1080p display with inverse telecine

Most of the talk on these boards has been whether or not a set accepts true 1080p (60 fps) signals. The reason being that HD-DVD will likely offer that resolution. On the otherhand what content is actually available that takes advantage of the increased framerate of 1080p? As far as I know...

    A question regarding current 1080i

Does anyone know if current shows like CSI, ER, West wing and 1080i are shot with a 1080i camera and hence have a native frame rate of 30 fps or if they are shot as 1080p 24 fps and broadcast as 1080i. I'm curious because it would seem that if the content is natively 24 fps progressive then it...

    480p/1080i but not 720p

keep it at 480p for stuff that is natively 480p--most movies. You can use 480i or 1080i for stuff that is 480i--concert DVDs--and see which suits your eye better.

    480p/1080i but not 720p

The short answer is yes http://www.copperbox.com/lite/popinfo.php?lc_code=ISCAN-HD&uneek=234957974 But do you really want to spend 1200 dollars just to run your xbox at 720p? If I remember correctly the only games that support 720p worth playing are soul calibur and x-men legends. As it is...

Insurance policy on 61" Samsung Rear DLP?

It's all about how you view the numbers. Insurance policies serve but one purpose to the seller and that is to make a profit--think about it BB, CC and every other retailer that sells service plans would go bankrupt it the claim rates on these polices were high.. At 18% of the purchase price it...
