    Yamaha RX-V1500 Sound Problem

I hope someone can help me with an answer to why the sound keeps cutting out/fading from my center channel when I'm listening to 5.1 surround sound from either my Digital Cable HD PVR or Oppo DVD player, that's connected directly to receiver using digital coax. If I switch the Yamaha to 2.1...

My misadventures with HDMI and why it should be dragged out back and shot

Hold off buying HDMI cable I'm glad I stumbled onto this discussion, I was just about to order a HDMI cable because my new Panasonic Plasma, only has 2 component inputs, and I have 3 component devices I'd like to attach. The SA 8300HD PVR can use HDMI output, but after reading this I might...

    Cabling confusion

No HDMI on receiver My Yamaha has no HDMI input so I'm forced to send video to Plasma, audio to receiver. The only down side is to remember to turn the volume down on the Plasma when using Yamaha receiver, but not a big problem with my Harmony Remote. I've read that you won't see a huge PQ...

How to move a big tube tv?

I moved to London 3 years ago and the hardest thing to move was the 36 incher. You have to balance 120lbs in one hand, while steadying it with the other. I've gotten smarter over the years, that why I came to you folks for the answers. :o

How to move a big tube tv?

Thanks for the suggestion so far. What if I cut a board the same size as the base, put this on the bottom and wrap two moving straps around. Then put this on a blanket, as suggested in Post#2. I'm worried that it might become a sled so the person up top could use a rope to prevent this from...

How to move a big tube tv?

I have a 36 inch sony wega tube tv that weighs about 240 pounds. I got it into my first floor house barely. Any suggestions on how to move it safely down the steps to the basement? If sure some of you have some good (and bad) stories about trying to move large sets.

    New Panasonic 800 series

Can't Wait! I'm glad I held off buying, this looks like it could challenge the Pioneer line, but for a better price. I was going to buy the 5080hd, but have held off because of the price, so maybe these new 800 series will get good reviews and be cheaper than the Pioneer line. I bought...

    Loud Popping Sound From SUB?

Yes I was moving the Sub when I bumped the coax cable that is connected to it. That's when it made the super loud boom sound. I then unplugged the power cable to move it some more. It doesn't seen like it has harmed the unit, but I don't want to do that to many more times.

    Bass Management RX-V1500

Its going to be quite a challenge to find a happy medium, since it produces the sound for a number of different devices: DVD's, Digital TV & Music, Playstation 2, CD's, Wireless iTunes music. Since I watch mostly Digital TV, I've noticed over the weekend that the midtones are lacking. I'm not...

    Loud Popping Sound From SUB?

If I accidentally bump the the coax cord going into my SUB, a supper loud popping sound occurs. Do I have a faulty wire or should I be more careful when I'm messing around behind the SUB and turn off the power. It doesn't seem like it has harmed the unit, but it sure the hell gives me a fright.

    Bass Management RX-V1500

Thanks for the advice, I will read the manual and the forums, plus experiment with my set-up. I find I still have a lot to learn, I'm weak in regards to understanding how to use the built in EQ on the yamaha to get the best sound and I don't understand the different Crossover settings and how...

    Bass Management RX-V1500

Not working for Me? I ran my YPAO, used the settings suggested in this thread. After YPAO finnished, I checked the settings and noticed that LFE had switched to BOTH. Why is this happening, I set LFE to Sub before I ran YPAO. I turned the Sub to its highest level and...

    Best Connection 4 Music CD's

Thanks for the advice, I'm not an electrical genius so sometimes the manuals don't explain things in simple english, they talk about downsampling, analog, digital, etc., etc., etc., so it helps to get good advice.

    Best Connection 4 Music CD's

If I'm playing a regular music CD, what connection gives the best sound. So far I have the 5.1-ch Analog and Coax audio connected from my DVD player to the Yammy. The 5.1-ch is used for DVD-A/SACD and the Coax handles the digital. I keep thinking that maybe I should run a L/R analog also...

    Connecting Your System?

You're right about the extra cables, only one would be needed. I use a harmony remote which programs all the different activities into one touch activation. So really it comes down to the ability to use the remote that came with the Yamaha receiver, if I were to use this. Thanks for the...
