More loudspeakers are blown with low powered amplifiers, than high powered amplifiers. Usually because the user has alot EQ boost, using high THD sources or simply trying to play the system @ a higher volume level driving the amplifiers into clipping.. Just my $0.02.. ;)

I do agree, this feature is misunderstood by many and can/will change due to room size, speaker sensitivity, any EQ/DSP settings. One more thing to keep in mind about the dB volume indication. If any of the channel trims are set to positive + dB, that amount will be decreased from the maximum...

My favorite AVR of all time is my Harman/Kardon AVR7550HD... It has great power into 4 Ohms, analog/digitizer bass manager, full process Logic 7, and incredible Room EQ software developed by HK's internal R&D team... Still kicking after 14 years as the last HK AVR.. Just my $0.02... ;)

I recall the Outlaw 7900 amplifier was built in the USA by ATI.. ATI builds amplifiers for many brands and my experience with their products has been excellent... Just my $0.02.. ;)

The 3490 has no bass management capability. It does have digital inputs; 1 coax, 1 optical and can decode a stereo PCM stream... Just my $0.02... ;)
